False Advertising, but GREAT Host
Review Good news first. Alan is absolutely wonderful. He’s got no quit in him. He’s just too busy to explain much of anything. I hope he isn’t upset by this plug, but: He should get a Nobel Prize for his work with then-USSR by promoting person to person healing through power of music. Just search Surry Opera Company. The property is stunning. Clean. The music hall, with 4 pianos is the chef’s kiss. Now the unfortunate truth. You’re a lawn ornament for the cabins. The amenities listed do not match reality. The tent site I stayed at said I would have a campfire. That’s how I feed myself. There are no fires allowed, no site fire-pits extant at the tent campsite. There’s only a kitchen if you bother the tenants of a nearby cabin. Hard for a solo bushcrafter on the Spectrum. It listed potable water. It is available: from the bathroom sink in the concert hall. My canteens didn’t fit under the tap. No shower shown, offered, or explained. I brought more than enough food, with no fire as promised to use it. I ended up driving into touristy-town every day to eat gas station fare and purchase drinking/coffee water for my dog and I. Which financially ruined the trip. Or drive into Ellsworth which isn’t much better. Not a tent camper’s dream. I cannot in good faith recommend camping here. This place shouldn’t list tent camping at all. Would IMPROVE his rating. I highly recommend getting a cabin. They look great. Alan is wonderful. But the list of amenities is a lie.

Especially kind host
My partner and I never actually made it to the site due to our being in a car accident on the way up. I contacted Alan just to let him know we weren't coming (not expecting a refund or anything, just a heads up) and he refunded me for almost half even though I hadn't cancelled the booking. He was so kind and checked in on us. He was wonderful through the whole booking process, being quick to respond and very welcoming.

Won't Be Staying Again
We arrived late, after a full day of hiking, and followed the directions on the site (which simply said to contact the host, Alan). We did so, giving our name and our arrival time, and asked if there were any details we should know prior to our arrival. We were then directed to meet Alan at the front of the property, where we gave our name and he showed us to a cabin in the back, instructed us to park our car, and wished us a good night. An hour or so later, after we had fallen asleep, we were woken up by a loud knock on the door, where Alan was standing with another group. He loudly berated us for being in the wrong spot, had us quickly pack up (2 minutes) and ushered the next group in. We apologized profusely (despite having done exactly what we were told to) and set up in the next spot (a tent site in the front). In the morning, Alan returned as we were packing up to continue to scold us and reiterate that WE should have known better, and that we had put HIM in an uncomfortable position. We tried to explain that we just followed his directions as a host, and he cut us off, wished us a curt goodbye, and stormed off. All of this is to say, be certain you doublecheck the details of your stay — apparently, nobody else will, and not only will you be woken up, you’ll be yelled at and berated as well.

Coastal Maine Property Camper Site
The property was quiet and peaceful. There were several mixed reviews but going to Maine this early in the season left me with limited options. I booked this site as a Travel Trailor/RV site which was conflicting online. Some parts of the listing says that there are electric and water hook ups, other sections say there are none. This caused quite a bit of confusion upon arrival but it was all worked out. There are bathrooms on site and an outside shower that was not offered to me. Overall it was a nice stay but seems like the listing needs to be more clear to avoid future conflicts/confusion.
