Sunflower Ranch is the name of our home and property. Not only is our cozy, modest house sunflower yellow but in August it is surrounded with sunflowers of all sizes. We share our property with a flock of sweet hens and ducks.....and a few bossy roosters. Eggs are available for purchase if needed. There is a little greenhouse with herbs, greens and strawberries. The field is also an apple orchard that mostly feeds the wildlife. The tent site is privately placed in our cove unseen from the house. We wanted to offer a site that we would enjoy as well and feels like it is in a world of its own. We spend all of our free time outside, camping and paddling the local rivers and lakes. Tommy and I can recommend many beautiful remote Maine adventures for you to experience that are located off the grid and away from all other humans. The sweet city of Ellsworth is only 7 miles away for all of your provisions and Otis General Store is 1 mile away.. they have everything to get you through plus beer, wine, ice and homemade pizza. We can give you a pass to visit the Beech Hill Pond Beach also only 1 mile away (I walk there all the time) which has clear water and a sandy bottom. Great spot to spend the day sunbathing and swimming. I can offer yoga, personal training, boxing and paddleboard lessons or SUP yoga for some onsite physical fitness fun upon request. Machelle’s A-frame was so comfortable! The property felt secluded and was incredibly scenic. The short trail leading to the little waterfalls was so cool, and we enjoyed taking out the canoe on the lake.

10/10!
We had such a great time here! Machelle thought of everything. She sent a thorough message ahead of time listing all of the utilities the site offers and nearby recommendations (including a trail on her property along the stream and a nearby market). The site was well marked, with clear directions. It was about 45 minutes to/from Acadia, but well worth the drive for this private, magical getaway. We loved canoeing in the daylight, as well as by starlight, and the dogs loved exploring the site and playing in the water. A plethora of extra blankets were provided to keep warm in the A-frame, as well as everything needed for a comfortable stay. Very grateful for this experience!

Completely Magical Stay!
Machelle’s land was complete magic. I have traveled and lived all over the world, and this was by far one of my favorite places I’ve ever stayed. Machelle had personal touches everywhere. She has everything you need for cooking on the campsite, and there is even a sunflower trail she created on the property that leads to a waterfall. You can canoe on the lake, picnic and more. I wish I could give this place more stars, highly recommend and we cannot wait to come back.

Our stay was great. The A Frame was very private and right on the lake. Wish the weather had been better, but the A Frame kept us dry. Would love to go back.
