85 acres of woodlands, fields, and wetlands located in the shadow of Mount Katahdin, and conveniently just 2 miles off Route 95. We call our special spot Siberia Crossing, a nod to the workers who laid the Bangor and Aroostook RR tracks in the late 1800s, and dubbed the place "colder than Siberia!" This private gated property is within close proximity to numerous outdoor recreational opportunities and hundreds of thousands of acres of conserved lands, including Baxter State Park, Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument, and Penobscot River Trails. Whether you enjoy hiking, biking, kayaking, canoeing, birding, hunting, fishing, or simply relaxing in the great Maine outdoors, you are sure to find our property a suitable basecamp for your North Woods adventures. This private site is located at the end of a gravel road that meanders through the forest, ending at a small hilltop overlooking the entire Katahdin Mountain range. With a westerly aspect, the site offers plenty of afternoon sunshine and stunning sunset views. The site is well-appointed with everything you'll need to enjoy a relaxing and comfortable time in the Maine woods. Included are a waterproof and fireproof 16.5 foot canvas bell tent (with woodstove for colder months), sawdust pit outhouse, shower (hot water!), and 14 x 24 screened-in gazebo with a full kitchen including, cookware, dishes, and utensils, 5 foot commercial stainless steel prep table, large 3 burner grill with griddle and BBQ box, small 12-volt cooler, 2-bay sink with hot/cold running water, and picnic table. The gazebo even has a comfy couch with propane firepit! There is also a small Solo stove on the tent platform. The glampsite is powered by two 100-watt solar panels, with USB charging stations. We have done our best to improve access with ramps and appropriate doorway openings to accommodate wheelchairs and walkers, as well as installed grab bars where appropriate. Please contact us for specific details.
