Pond Cabin
We live within a 45 min drive and this was our 3rd time staying over night at HVNC, our 2nd time at Pond Cabin and 1st time coming in the summer! It did not disappoint. We (a family of 3) were looking to completely unplug and be off the grid but without our usual 3 hour trek up north. We were totally floored by how quiet it was at HVNC for our Sat-Tues trip, quieter than most remote campsites we’ve been to further north or west. We only saw the sun for about 10 min the morning we were leaving but it did not stop us from catching 16 fish, kayaking every day, hiking to the beaver damn, and of course our 1-2x daily trek to the car to restock on food. I actually looked forward to this walk (just under 3mi rt)everyday! We didn’t see a single other boat on the water other than the scheduled moonlight paddlers one eve (no moon but still looked awesome!). It helps to have some camping and backpacking skills since this is by no means glamping. But having shelter and one less thing (ie, a tent) to carry is pretty rad. Thank you, HVNC!!!

Joe & Doe Cabin
My Sister and I loved spending time at Joe’s and Doe’s cabin. So peaceful and secluded. We enjoyed roasting marshmallows, and playing card games. We hope to return again soon.

Wilderness Camping
Great campsite and wilderness camping experience! The water pump is one mile away as others have said, but the campsite is right on the pond so you can filter or treat the water from it. You are in the middle of a hiking trail, but the preserve isn’t crowded at all anyway. We only saw anyone come through twice during the day, none at night. It is very quiet at night to hear the crickets chirping and an owl hooting! Well maintained outhouse. Very well run organization that runs this place.

Pond Cabin
Peaceful and quiet
Truly a beautiful experience. The cabin is lovely and very peaceful. Having access to paddle boards and canoes was perfect. Particularly in the early morning when the mist was coming off the water and it was so serene. We hung hammocks and had fires. It’s a bit of a hall so pack light and only what you really need. The cots and sleeping pads were a plus. We will definitely be back! We had a wonderful time.

Joe & Doe Cabin
We had a great visit to the Joe and Doe cabin! We had tickets to visit the Botanical Garden and this was a good place for us to stay. There were endless places to build fairy houses in the woods, which was a bonus!

Hermit Hut
Loved the simplicity of everything. Was a nice get away. The only thing that could use some improvement is to update the markings of some of the trails. Overall experience was great!! Will definitely book again
