A beautiful island campground thickly forested with spruce, fir, and birch, Four Acre Woods was created over 60 years ago on Sunshine Island, Maine. Under the name Sunshine Campground, it hosted people from all over the world and delivered the spirit and essence of this ancient, abundant land that so many ancestors had roamed and celebrated before. It was open to the public through to the 90s, but then sat alone for 15 years, waiting for someone to revive it and bring it back to the world. Then one day, Caleb and Wolf met on a bus, heading south from Down East Maine, where they instantly connected and joined forces. They worked together redressing a home in Stonington for visitors to experience and became brothers while doing so. Eventually, the presence and opportunity of the campground caught their attention and after working out the technicalities, they worked together to bring this beautiful land and campground back to the people under its new life and name, Four Acre Woods. After opening on July 1st 2020, the land is finally back to sharing all of her beauty and spirit with the people. So, Welcome Home. Sincerely, - Four Acre Woods Caretakers

Heron Hideout (Canvas Tent Rental)
This was my fifth (at least) visit to Four Acre Woods. It's been wonderful watching this place grow and evolve as time goes on. Caleb (and Nahko) have curated a beautiful little retreat, complete with most - if not all - the amenities one could want: a community cabin for cooking, games, and WiFi access, showers with hot water, electric hookups, kayak rentals, a sauna... the list goes on. This time, I stayed in the canvas tent rental. Check-in was simple, and there was always a caretaker or fellow camper ready to assist if needed. The canvas tent was spacious and had a comfy bed all set up—perfect for those who don't want to deal with setting up a tent. While the sites are pretty close together, I've always felt like my space was respected, parties wound down at a reasonable hour, and all the campers (and their dogs) were friendly and kind. If you want to be left alone, that's fine, but if not, you may make a new friend! Deer Isle is about 1.5 hours from Acadia National Park, making it a worthy day trip, but Deer Isle, Stonington, and the surrounding areas are destinations in themselves. Couldn't recommend more!

Maine Hospitality at it's best!
Warm cozy friendly environment. Folks assisting others for the common good. True Maine Hospitality.... Looking forward to next year. As a solo traveler Caleb, Devin and John made sure my needs were met. I can't say enough about this extraordinary sweet spot.

Amazing campground!!!! The geodome is well appointed with cooler, hot plate, dishes, electric tea kettle and more! Comfy bed and fluffy pillows made sleeping easy. Community cabin, firewood and bathhouse add an additional touch of comfort. Close to lots of cute towns and beautiful water everywhere!!! Don’t miss this gem of a spot.

Highly Recommend
Wow! What a weekend. Stayed in the Seal Cove Geodome and had a fantastic time. Comfortable stay, great amenities, clean facilities and friendly people. The private sauna session was amazing. If you are looking for a relaxing weekend away in a quiet campground, this is the place to go!
