Centrally located in MidCoast (just 20 minutes from Route 1), out in the country you'll find a "Country Getaway" situated on over 16 acres. A large field borders mostly wooded land with an old farmhouse that dates back to the late 1700's. Rumored to have been a place for travelers to stop for a hot meal and/or some shut eye before heading back out on their journey. There was an orchard here, along with a cider press and the first town meeting was also held in the main house.
Come enjoy the calm, quiet air, filled with natures soothing sounds as you're enchanted by the blinking fireflies of the night.Depending on the amount of rain we get, campers may need to set up camp in front of the trees on harder ground.
Pictures show a wood pile that no longer exists. You may gather wood in the forest to burn or bring your own firewood. No firewood is provided.
*Please be advised. At times, nearby neighbors could potentially shoot guns/set off fireworks (holidays/hunting), you and/or your pet could be uncomfortable with this noise. This isn't an everyday occurrence; however, it does happen out here in the country.
The hustle and bustle of exploring "Vacationland" can be quite overwhelming at times. Balance your trip by spending some time in nature, with a soulful stay in the country.
After passing by the old farmhouse, head straight up the wildflower field to your private, peaceful campsite. Bright south facing with trees for shade, a picnic table and firepit are provided for a true camping experience. Potable water station for drinking/food preparation and dishwashing.
Relax out in nature or go explore the woods. Tie your hammock between the trees. Enjoy dinner around the fire, with a glass of vino as the sun sets over the pines. Settle in for the night by toasting some gooey smores and watch as the fireflies start to put on their show (typically starting late May lasting into July). The stargazing is unreal!
The terrain up to the site is easy (mowed path to follow). Some ground can become soft if we get rain (host available should you have any issues).
Just 20 mins to Wiscasset (Route 1) to explore the MidCoast sights, history and taste the freshest of seafood. Right here in town Sheepscot General Store, roadside Amish stands, and Sheepscot Links Golf Course. 13 minutes to Jefferson Village, with Damariscotta Lake State Park just shortly beyond. Go for a swim, then grab a cold treat at Jefferson Scoop before heading back. Centrally located to the BEST of Maine's MidCoast regional favorites!
