Our property has a history detailed in the arrowheads and other Wabanaki artifacts found around the property. European settlers have also left clues behind of the shipbuilding industry and 1700's culture. Experience a bit of natural immersion and enjoy the endless opportunities for outdoor recreation while camping in the northern forests of Downeast Maine! We use our 6 acre property to focus on producing organically grown herbs, fruit, vegetables for local markets. We're finally making available the properties scenic brooks, forests and meadows to folks seeking to experience a truly unforgettable, countryside retreat. *firewood is available for free on site We’re just off the beaten path in an agricultural and fishing community on the Union River, 20 minutes drive from Acadia National Park and Mt. Desert Island. See what our other guests have had to say about their stays- “It’s an experience I would repeat with pleasure. Difficult to be short about my highlights: hearing the loon at night certainly, waking up with the quarter moon over my head, seeing the progression in changing colors of the leaves, the views from Mount Cadillac, and Beech Wood trail, Jordan Pond and the Bubbles,so many things really.” - Christine from Montpelier, France, Sept 2021. "We were so at peace when we got here we just spent the rest of the day hanging at the yurt enjoying the peace and quiet today we are heading to the ocean!"- Jody from New Hampshire, July 2021. "We could not have found a more idyllic place, plus it was our first experience in a yurt. We found your notes about Acadia super helpful and the yurt was just so beautiful and cozy. Having a hot bath and a little fire in the wood stove after a day of biking the Carriage Roads and swimming at Sand Beach could not have been more perfect. So glad we were at the yurt to enjoy the area and Acadia. We had an incredible stay and are hoping to come back next summer."- Jenn & Neil, August 2020.

Birch Gate Campsite
A good spot not too far from Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor, about 20-30 minute drive. Jedediah, a very down to earth human, promptly greeted us and showed us around. Well water is available. Some firewood was there, but don’t count on foraging much from the property. Overall a solid pick for reasonably priced camping.

Birch Gate Campsite
It was very pretty and I loved the campsites because of the provided raised tent bed area and distance from other campers! Parking was a little confusing when we first got there, but our host was very communicative and that was sorted shortly after arriving.

Wonderful Private Getaway at Birch
We recently stayed at the Birch Gate Campsite within Camps of the Pioneers, Maine, and had an excellent experience. This campsite offers a nice, private space perfect for our family. It comfortably accommodated our four-person tent, with a fire ring and a well-maintained composting bathroom. Nestled in a lovely evergreen forest, the site provided a serene oasis away from the crowds we encountered just 20 minutes away at Acadia National Park. The peaceful setting allowed us to truly relax and enjoy nature. Jedidah, our host, was exceptionally kind and helpful, providing us with various pointers that enhanced our stay. His hospitality made our experience even better. I highly recommend Birch Gate Campsite to anyone seeking a peaceful retreat in nature. It's a great place to unwind and enjoy the beauty of Maine.

Birch Gate Campsite
Excellent. Jedidah is one of the most patient men. But please don't put him through it, we've done enough for the summer (: We had some stuff break and had to go to Portland so we ended up arriving 2 hours later than originally planned and kept texting him about it. He was kind and helpful. Then we figured out a miscommunication that he didn't know we had a trailer. But we figured it out. The place he put us was lovely. We'll definitely be back!

Glamping Near Acadia
Nice and cozy yurt!! Super nice to have potable water he provides and there were other campsites but far enough away that it was still private! Comfortable sleeping spot and sleeping bags were super helpful for us cause we flew in from out of state.

Glamping Near Acadia
Good time, quiet & basic
Very quiet property, 10 minute drive to Walmart, and restaurants, 30 minutes to Acadia Nat park. The Host Jedidiah met us when we pulled in, and explained everything; how to use the propane lamp, where to park, the bathroom, etc.. This is definitely more off Grid and bare bones than we are used to, but for the right people, this is a great deal!
Location
