Our property sits on a finger of Cumberland Lake. The Lake is maintain and owned by the Army Corp of Engineers. Our property has one of the few docks that are grandfathered in to the rules of the lake. We bought this property as a summer home for our family and we are fortunate enough to have two small cabins on the property we are willing to share. We took a break during COVID and used our cabins for family but now that things are back to normal, we are ready to meet new people. Both cabins have indoor plumbing, a small kitchen area with a microwave, coffee pot, mini frig and sink. They have been remodeled and have covered balconies that overlook the hillside and water below. It's a beautiful, peaceful getaway that feels like you are miles from the city but really you are a mile from grocery stores, gas, and entertainment. If you are not familiar with Cumberland Lake, please review the pictures here to appreciate the distance and steepness of the hill that must be walked to get to the water. Part of the path is large gravel steps and part is just a trail through the woods, it winds and slopes and can be very slick in the rain. Everyone says it's not bad going down but coming back up is a challenge. This property is not for you if you have mobility issues.

Cabin #1 with a Dock - Somerset, KY
Not giving low review per say, just pros and cons. Price is fantastic! Location easy to get to and close to town if needed & mostly felt private! Worked out great renting BOTH cabins for our short family trip with dogs. Owner was quick to answer my list of questions. Driveway was little tight for truck & boat trailer w/ how it was laid out. Cabin 1 shower very small for an adult but worked. Cabin 1 air mattress didn't hold air thru night unfortunately, Cabin 2's was good. Cabin 2 smelled of moisture and was a little dark compared to Cabin 1. Would maybe bring your own warm blanket & pillows to add to lines provided. Nice bath and beach towels! Kitchenette had what we needed. I brought coffee and supplies, but didn't realize maker was a mini, so my filters didn't work and didn't see any in kitchen. But creamer, sugar, and misc supplies were provided. Waffle maker looked nice, but didn't use. Mini fridge isn't super cold so we just kept supplies in coolers. Hot tub location was a little awkward being at the owner's main house, so we didn't attempt to use. Outdoor deck area was a bit worn out and had to be careful of nail heads and wood rot. Patio funiture was algae covered. Grill and fire pit were nice. With water level, the dock really wasn't accessible due to ramp for our needs but would be great otherwise. Overall a great option for the $$. As a real estate agent myself, I am just super nit pickey on quality out of habit but overall a good option for a quick trip

Cabin #1 with a Dock - Somerset, KY
Summer trip 2023
I can’t even begin to tell you how sweet and kind Joanne and her husband are . The sweetest couple you would ever meet. Took us and our grandkids out for a boat ride and they helped accommodate us in every way possible. The cabin was everything you need for a weekend getaway. The hike to the dock is challenging but I’m 55 a smoker and out of shape and did it twice in one day. If I can do it so can you and once down there it’s so much fun. Kayaks and canoes available for use along with life jackets , fishing poles and chairs. Take snacks and drinks down and your set for a day of fun in the water. Head back up for a campfire 🔥 and just relax on the deck listening to the crickets. We really enjoyed ourselves and can’t thank them enough. The bed was super comfy and they had a nice air mattress and twin mattress there for our grandkids. Thank you again for everything.

Cabin #2 with a dock - Somerset, KY
Peaceful getaway with fur babies
We loved staying at Joannes cabin with our three little dogs. The hike down was steeper and rockier than I had anticipated but was still manageable and fun to do with our boys. The kayaking and private dock were the best part of this place. Joanne was very communicative and hospitable. Highly recommend!

Cabin #2 with a dock - Somerset, KY
Perfect getaway for a couple.
We were greeted with a personal note welcoming us and also fresh salsa and chips which were delicious. Great little cottage with everything we needed and a relaxing covered back porch to enjoy. The cottage is in a perfect location with easy access to shopping, dining and just down the road is Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area which was the reason for our trip.
