Named one of the best Hipcamps to visit in 2024.
Horse Creek Adventures is a 170 acre ranch that provides an opportunity for visitors to stay one night or several days to enjoy the land and area sights. You have your choice as to how you want to stay. Our "off the grid" cabins offer a special opportunity to camp with a roof. The cabins are extremely popular! Check out the information about them and then check the photos posted by quests and read their reviews to give you lots of ideas of how you could enjoy these one of a kind sites. Tenting is available all over the 170 acres. You can tent by the pond; on top of the hill, or in a valley. These sites allow you to "get away from it all" and let the stress melt away. We have tenting sites close to a road to give you flexibility to see local attractions while enjoying the whole 170 acres. The land is part of the famous Loess Hills. There are hilltops to take in the breath taking views and valleys surrounded by trees. A pond full of trophy sized bass , catch and release, no license required. Wildlife abounds including a wide variety of birds. We have been described by avid birders as a rich place for birding. The area is rich with history-Lewis and Clark; French Canadian trappers and their Lakota wives established French Villages; Mormons came through here on the way to Utah; Jesse James played cards. Waubonsie State Park is close with hiking trails and seven miles of Horse trails. At night you can use a portable corral to have your horse close. End the day around a campfire, look at the stars and the lightening bugs and be serenaded to sleep by the coyotes and whip-poor-wills Enjoy !!

Horse Creek Adventures: Tent Sites
Amazing sunrise and sunset views!
The campsites are beautiful and well-spaced. There was another site fairly close to ours but it wasn’t occupied. We stayed at one of the ‘valley’ sites which was great because it got quite windy. But the ridge top sites have amazing views; we walked up there for the sunset and sunrise. There are nice mowed trails around the property with more awesome views. The water level of the lake was low making it uninviting for a dip even though it was really hot. There was a burn ban in effect on one of the days we camped so it was good we weren’t relying on a campfire for cooking. The coolest part was listening to the barred owls duetting late at night - very spooky. There was a lot of animal activity at night!

Camping away from people
The prepared campsites were amazing! The owner was very responsive and helpful. I absolutely want to take my sons here again. Beautiful land and lots of room to hike and wander. The view of the stars at night is phenomenal. It was so clear you could see satellites moving across the sky.

We will be back
We had a great time at Jack's. My son and I just moved to Omaha and all of our camping gear is in storage. So we stayed at Cabin #1. Great view from the deck and it's also one of the closest cabins to the pond which was where we spent most of our time. My son caught several bass and a crappie. My sister and her son joined us the second day. The kids enjoyed exploring and catching frogs by the pond. Listening to the coyotes while sitting by the fire was a treat. Great spot especially if you like fishing. Lona is an excellent host; laid-back and accommodating.
