Sam is a rocks star. This was my second time visiting. I learn something Everytime. The land is beautiful, very clean, very hospitable, and a very nice weekend warm get away even when the temp is 5 degrees Fahrenheit.
My 9 year old and I wanted to go camping after Christmas to get away. We stayed in the Queen bed tent in the woods. It was magical. I lived the short walk to the tent for privacy. We heard owls and coyotes at night. The host made sure heaters were on to get the tent to 55-60 degrees which was so comfortable. Very clean full restroom and shower in the learning center. Dumpsters nearby. Everything you could ask for. We hope to return again ❤️
My daughter and I stayed the days after Christmas. Temps ranged from 30’s-50’s. The tent was around 60 degrees on average and felt GREAT! Very roomy, chairs and tables for belongings and electricity fur plugging in essentials.
4 chairs and a picnic table are there for use. We heard coyotes, owls and birds. There was a bathroom with running water super close 24/7. Bring outdoor cooking gear especially in off season. A super friendly came to visit too!
Hiking at Starved Rock is around 35 min away,
Loved the peace!!!
Sam was such a wonderful, polite, caring/loving individual. We learned so much wonderful information. The farm was amazing- I can’t put it into words. We love Sam as well as his family and his land. We will be coming back 100% (as long as Sam lets us), and spreading the word to friends and family. Sam encouraged us to explore the farm un-guided. Which i personally thought that was very special. One weekend at Sam’s farm was a life changing experience that we will never forget! Additionally the prices were more than fair, the tents, washroom/shower area, and learning center were very clean, organic, and peaceful. We love you Sam, and plan to make a donation to The farm as soon as our finances permit. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!
My boyfriend and I absolutely loved our stay. We stayed for 1 night and it was amazing. Sam was very accommodating. I booked 2 months out and the day we got there it was 17 degrees. He went out of his way to prepare another room incase it was too cold to stay in the yurt without hs asking. My boyfriend and I wanted the glamping experience so we stayed in the yurt. We brought extra warm clothes, beenies, gloves and warm socks encase it was too cold. We had the opportunity to milk goats and see the farm. Everyone was wonderful. We had the best, quiet, well needed get away for my boyfriends birthday. The yurt looks like a hotel room on the inside. Like camping, you need to walk to the bath room area. Sam was a wonderful host. I recommend eating at the 222 ale house. Amazing place as well.
Simple cabin with bed, wood stove, camp stove and sink. Amazing scenery, walk the trails. Relatively private. Great hosts, great mission.
