The Peaks of Placerville
We couldn't find the site. We used gps and his directions and really did give it our best efforts for at least an hour driving up and down that road. It definitely needs to be more clearly marked. Even upon contacting the owner we were still unable to find it. Beautiful area, and we found a great place in the area to camp, but "Peaks of Placerville" is not where we ended up.

Unfortunately, like the last person who tried to get to this campsite we couldn't find it. We looked for a very long time. I suggest the camp host adds a photo of these posts they mention. It is such a gorgeous area so I was very bummed we couldn't make it there. We ended up staying at a random site along the 374. Also, you should know that if you plan on coming here you NEED an AWD, the road is pretty rugged. Also, at first our directions (from Google Maps that we downloaded for offline) told us to go to Porter Creek Rd....DONT DO THAT...it will dead end at a fence. We had to stop and turn our car around on a tiny road as well as our friends SUV pulling a trailer, it wasnt easy. We took the 55 to Harris Creek Rd and then the 374. I feel like we were so close to the campsite and it sucks we couldnt find it.

Coordinates on google maps are not helpful when you have no service. Written directions on the website would be helpful, from when you leave the main highway all the way to the campsite. National fire roads are barely marked and easy to miss. You also need a heavy duty all wheel drive vehicle. We never showed up because we never found the place. Ill be writing hipcamp for a refund.
