Join us at our homeland where you can almost always smell chocolate chip cookies baking and find circus artists juggling in the driveway. We came here to celebrate, to make dinner with friends, to explore in the woods. We hope you feel as serene here as we do!

Hobbit Home in the Aspens
Roughing it a bit more than expecte
The teardrop itself is pretty much what we were looking for, though the area had some issues. The trailer is about 75 yds up a path through the woods and across a private driveway, so it is inconvenient to lug a cooler, campstove and food up and down the hill, especially since you need to bear-proof overnight and there is no bear locker at the site. When we were there, the shower was only enclosed on three sides and open to other campsites on the fourth, and the property looked like a construction site, with half-completed projects scattered about. It did give us a chance to try sleeping in a teardrop for a low price, so the overall experience was ok.

Clean and well kept small trailer
The small trailer was a nice touch which kept the two of us very warm and comfortable for the night. The trailer and our grounds area were very clean and well kept, including the fire pit. I did expect it to be a little more private but it’s still a great alternative if you want to get away from a busy public campground. It’s up a trail in the host’s backyard and just off the visible main road, and we did not have any other tent/trailer neighbors. Both nights were very quiet and calm and we felt reasonably safe there with just a few cars passing by, and a rare pedestrian on the road through the day. As much as I love animals I was not the biggest fan of the three separate adult dogs that came to our site looking for food in the mornings. Two did not have collars. They were not territorial, barking/growling or aggressive towards us, or grab food out of my hands, but I’m reasonably cautious about free roaming dogs with no owners in sight. I still recommend this host, especially if you’re wanting to visit Golden Canyon Park.

Hobbit Home in the Aspens
This felt more like squatting rather than camping. The camper is located on an upper tier ‘grove’ of a mobile home site strewn with abandoned vehicles., patrolled by stray dogs (some aggressive) right below a driveway that kicks dirt and rocks down when cars drive by. We made camp at dusk, setting in for a night among the stars. The site’s trees obscure much of the view, so we went wandering for an open space, but we’re rebuffed by the first and least friendly of the stray dogs we’d encounter. Back at the campsite, we started a fire only to retreat to the camper due to the dirt plumes and another stray dog - who’d again be barking at our door at first light. The checkin was easy (although done by a neighboring camper), host was responsive via the app, and actual camper is nice and comfortable, but the overall experience wasn’t relaxing or positive.

Great site & host, weird neighbors!
I have mixed feelings about leaving this review because I know it might sway some people not to stay here and I truly loved the camper, the location, and the hosts could not have been kinder or more accommodating. The site itself was above average and very sweet. However, around 4:30am a man watched me pee outside and yelled at me from within the woods (where there was no house), leading both me and my boyfriend to be petrified and leave the site as soon as the sun came out. The host said she had no idea who this could be, and that it was likely a trespasser. I leave this review only because if I was going to stay here and this happened to somebody else at the site, I would be upset if that person didn’t inform me.

Just what we needed
What a phenomenal host couple and site location! We loved our opportunities to get to know them, learn about their favorite hikes and spots to explore, and used their advice to make our weekend special. The hobbit home was cozy and clean. We loved building a fire and cooking right outside our door after a long day hiking. Thank you both, and we hope to be back again!
