We have 4 pristine acres of land on the outskirts of the town of Hilo, with 3 acres of private forest, bordering on the Mauna Kea watershed, in the foothills of Mauna Loa volcano. Located in the Highlands of Waiakea Uka, at 1000-foot elevation, we are high above the humidity of Hilo. The glamping tent is situated right between the meadow and the forest. It's mostly peaceful here and it feels like being in the country. You can walk into the woods or up the road. There are no street lights, so there is a great view of the night sky. It's a great place for a Retreat, a Writer's Retreat, a Vision Quest or a Medicine Journey.
We also offer Holistic and Vibrational Healing with Joy Gardner and others,
delightful outdoor bathing in the Bamboo Bath House
(see also RMAMysteryschool.com)
Location: 15 minutes from the Airport, 15 minutes from Target and lots of good restaurants in Hilo, 20 minutes from Rainbow Falls, 20 minutes from Richardson Beach with great snorkeling, 20 minutes from good surfing at Honoli'i Beach Park, 40 minutes from Volcano and the Caldera.
Nestled just outside Hilo, this glamping spot offers a tranquil escape surrounded by lush nature. The site is praised for its comfortable amenities, such as an actual mattress, a well-equipped kitchen, and a charming outdoor bathhouse. Guests frequently mention the soothing sounds of frogs at night and the property's close proximity to Hilo's attractions. However, a few reviews mention issues with the bedding cleanliness and the presence of dry toilets, which may not be to everyone's liking.
After the host “accidentally” gives me a refund I have to pay her assistant on site and here is where it goes downhill. These are text messages sent to me by the host I eventually blocked her and stayed the last night with my 4 children in the car far away from there.
please hurry - Mari has to leave soon. this is ridiculous – it feels like we've been waiting all day for you.
I heard that you were doing laundry til 3 am.
I hope you read the laminated pages in the tent and realize that you're supposed to pay $10 for every load after the first.
You obviously didn't read the part about quiet time after 9 pm. My tenants and my neighbors have been complaining about the nonstop Sounds like you unloaded a massive amount of trash too. You are allowed to leave one 13 gallon bag of trash for every three days that you're here. All the rest of the trash, I expect you to haul away yourself to the dump. Be sure to be out of here by 11 am, because other folks are arriving around noon tomorrow.
Kai says you used a bunch of his dryer sheets and detergent - like about 5 loads worth. I will reimburse him when you pay $40 for doing four extra loads of laundry.
I stayed in the glamping tent and enjoyed the restful peace and tranquility of the property, buffered by the forest. This location is in the rolling hills outside of the town of Hilo, but easily accessible. Made my morning coffee to enjoy on the southeast facing deck. Fell asleep to the chirping of lovely frogs. Nights were cool and, with the ample bedding provided, I was very cozy. The mattress was very very comfortable. The bathhouse looked lovely but I did not have the opportunity to enjoy it. Took most of my baths in the ocean and in streams!
Joy was very pleasant at first; it ended up that we didn’t book the main tent setup we saw advertised and the only option was to camp in the middle of her sloped yard with our own tent. We had planned to have a very nice place with provided secluded tent seen in photos and was surprised we had to camp in her very public muddy backyard where our own tent was needed. No kind of price reduction let alone hospitality considering sleeping behind her long term tenants house and shared bath space. Hope you have a better situation and know before hand where you are sleeping before boking. Mahalo nui and much aloha
