Our campsites are situated on 13 acres off the Historical Hamakua Coast, and home of the Hamakua Christmas Tree Forest. Awesome ocean view of the beautiful Pacific are a guarantee. It is quiet, safe ,and private with easy access just 3/4 mile off of the Hawaii Belt Road, (Highway 19), up a paved county maintained road. At Waikaumalo Park, "roughly a half mile" walk or ride away, you can take a cool dip in the fresh water stream surrounded by tropical foliage. Papa'aloa Country Store and Cafe has a restaurant and offers a wide selection of grocery items only 5 miles away. Botanical World Adventures just 3 miles away offers the Umauma Experience with ziplining, biking tours, trails exploring tropical flora, and triple waterfall views and adventures. Akaka Falls is only 6 miles away in Honomu. Laupahoehoe Point is only 15 minutes away offering swimming, fishing, and relaxing in the lava rocks and waves. All this is just 20 miles north of Hilo!

Oceanview Camp Sight #1

The views were amazing! The sound of the waterfall so close was a highlight. Going to sleep was always so relaxing!

I would NEVER book this again

Completely ruined our night. We arrived at the gate and the lock had a code that was never provided to us. How can you have instant booking, a code at your gate and not provide it? We tried contacting them through hip camp, sms and call, no answer. We waited at the gate for about an hour for a miracle that never came. The host texted me THE NEXT DAY that she was not even in Hawaii and thought I was somehow coming another day and so the “greeter”, was never told to be ready for our arrival. So long story short, we were never able to camp and were left at night and in the rain with no place to spend the night. I asked for a refund and received a partial one.

Great hosts

It was great to stay at Nancy & Richard’s cabin! We were a bit late and Richard was kind enough to wait for us to check in until ~7 pm. They have a really nice setup with amazing view of the stars and the sea. Highly recommended.
