To these ends, we have transformed our lush five-acre plot into a verdant botanical food forest. As you meander through our gardens and orchards, you will marvel at the incredible abundance and beauty that surrounds you. Through our various programs, we invite the community and international guests to join us in our daily routine of work and wellness. Come enjoy expansive ocean views and postcard sunsets. Eat delicious, healing farm-to-fork food. Spread some mulch; sow some seed. Get intimate with nature and find your unadulterated self. We would love to see you on the farm.

Unplug & Rejuvenate: Bamboo Canopy
pure magic! I didn't want to leave. Had some of the best sleeps of my life in that cozy tent, with nature and comforts.

Jungle vibes on the Kona side
The Gingerhill Farm Retreat was exactly what our family was looking for on the Big Island - lush, jungly, off-the-grid vibes but still close to the beaches on the Kona side. We are not really resort people and enjoy being close to nature with our kiddos so this place was a great fit for us. We were welcomed warmly by a member of Iris and Zach's staff, who was attentive throughout our stay if we needed anything. Our two kids ages 9 and 12 especially loved enjoying breakfast in the outdoor kitchen, watching the farm animals, and visiting the amazing nearby Harold H. Higashihara playground. The location was convenient for our early morning snorkeling trip at Captain Cook Cove, and a welcome retreat at the end of the day. Restaurants and grocery shopping are nearby. The coqui frogs are noisy at night, but with all the windows closed, it dimmed to a white noise and sleeping was no problem. If it had been any hotter outside necessitating the windows be open, earplugs would have been handy. Overall, we really enjoyed this stay and would recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy a more authentic island experience that is, as my 12 year old says, "giving Hawaii."

Hawaii Bamboo Grove Cabin
Episode of naked and afraid 😳
Didn’t really like the compost outhouse. There were no locks on the doors to the cabin. No shower curtain to the shower. Had to walk far from parking with no light pathways. The hammock was covered in bird poo. The coqui frog at night were so loud it made it so hard to sleep. It felt like they were all sitting on my pillow. I didn’t sleep there 2 of the four nights because the sound was so loud and I was getting little to no sleep.

Garden Cottage with Ocean View
The garden cottage was such a beautiful place to stay. With an outdoor shower and surrounded by an abundance of fruit, flowers and greenery, as well as the blue ocean, and the artworks inside - we left feeling inspired and restored. Our children loved the goats, chickens and pig but most of all the bright green gekos. Thank you for a magical stay.

For Nature Lovers
However, if you LOVE nature - if you're looking for a cross between camping and a hotel - if you like the idea of being surrounded by avacado, ginger, banana, coffee plants, palm trees and other flora, if you want to be immersed in a tropical forest soundscape at night - if that is your idea of heaven - then this is for you. We are those type of people and it was amazing and we could not give it enough praise. We stayed in the Garden Cottage with outside shower and kitchen, the room opens up on a porch (with kitchen) about 8' off the ground so there's a nice breeze and a nice view. If you like what I just wrote and want a Hawaiian experience like no other - well my friend, you've come to the right place. Zach and Iris supplied us with local coffee, a decently appointed kitchen, beautiful art, a simple but nice bathroom and wifi (although social media seems out of place here). My wife and I were in heaven. However, if you are the type of person that wants the hypoallergic, hyperclean, sterile environment of a hotel with a TV and a microwave and without any evidence of insects or wildlife, and you just want to look at nature but don't want it too close (like in a zoo) THIS IS NOT for you. We, however, are definitely coming back.
