The only power is a small battery to power the water pump for the shower and a few LED lights around the bathroom and kitchenette. We have battery and solar powered lights and lanterns around the exterior of the sheds and each shed is equipped with portable lights you can use on the inside. The shower is heated by an on demand propane water heater. The toilet is a composting toilet. The water for washing is filtered rain water via a catchment system. We provide a single burner propane camping stove for cooking and also a large Igloo cooler for keeping your food and drinks cold. We supply a 5 gallon bottle of drinking water. Verizon and ATT 4G cell phone reception is great.

Camp Ku'uipo
Shower and sink did not work, carpet in the bedroom was wet. The generator provided was at zero percent, so we were not able to use that either. Bed was not comfortable. A unique experience but wild not stay again.

Camp Ku'uipo
special stay on Big Island
We loved the stay in Ocean View. It is a perfect equipped offgrid camp. You can enjoy a warm shower or a hot meal. Ikaika provides a short video which explain every detail of the camp. The camp is not so secluded as maybe the pictures show. There is another camp right beside of it. The only thing you have to consider before booking is that you have to drive up very far from the highway which goes through Ocean View. It is about 10-15min drive up to the camp. The wheater up there is a little bit cooler but we were fine with it. We stayed 3 nights and in one of them we had luck so we were able to watch the stars. In the other nights it was to cloudy or rained. The area in Ocean View is a little bit special, for example with some broken cars at the road, but we never felt unsafe. For us it was the perfect base for exploring the south point or the volcano national park.

Camp Ku'uipo
10/10!
We loved staying at Camp Ku’uipo! The location/view is breathtaking. The containers are super comfy and have everything you need for the weekend. We came back from manta ray diving at 2am and were so happy we had a hot shower and comfy bed waiting for us. The hosts are super welcoming and sent a ton of helpful info in advance about how to find the place and fun things to do/places to eat. They also provide faux fur coats because it can get chilly! We will definitely be back!
