CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. Greystone Farm was founded as a small working horse farm in 2007. There are 22 acres in all, with about 8 acres nearest to the road devoted to horses. The remainder of the property is being used as a homestead and as "left alone" land. It backs up onto other tracts of land, so that once you are down the hill away from the barn you cannot see the neighbors. The best natural feature is the rock outcropping that runs through the property; you will feel like you have discovered something timeless. There is always something going on around the homestead, and you are welcome to join in. Feed the chickens, gather eggs, lend a hand in the garden, or with a building project. Or, you can choose a campsite back in the woods and we will leave you absolutely alone. Your choice. Enjoy. Please understand you will be staying at a working homestead/horse farm, not a campground. "Primitive Camping" means you will get water from my hose and you will poop in the bucket I provide (or bury your shit). The pastures and barn are near the front of the property; in the rear are my little house and homestead, the woods, and the rock outcroppings. You can pick almost anywhere on the back 15 acres to pitch your tent - though I will point out some of the better spots for you.   You will be about a mile from Between, Georgia on U.S. Hwy 78. Monroe and Loganville are both 5-6 miles away; Atlanta and Athens are each 40 minutes away, so civilization is very close. But when you are in the woods it feels like it's just you and nature.   Sometimes, I will provide you with a hammock, fresh eggs, and veggies from the garden. Other times, those things will not be available. There will always be something going on and you are welcome to pitch in and experience farm life - or you can disappear into the woods and not see anyone for your entire stay.  Now, here's the FINE PRINT: Arrive before dark, stay out of the pastures (even if you know horses) and don't feed any of the animals without permission. Thanks!

Twice I have booked and twice she has been a no show. I’ve called and didn’t get a call back until the next day last time and this time I haven’t been able to get a hold of her all day. No acceptable!

Primitive Camping at Greystone Farm
Surprisingly Quiet
POSITIVES: -Pam is a personable, considerate host. -The camping area is a bit overgrown, but Pam provided pruners. The property is lush in general. Lots of enthusiastic plant life, which is nice. -We could hear many species of birds in the day and some in the night. -Very quiet and peaceful, despite the encroaching Atlanta growth. -Pleasant and private overall. -Water access at the horse barn is easy. NEGATIVE/POSITIVE: The composting toilet is currently overfull and is also unvented and utterly dark. Vent/Light slots would be useful. The construction itself is very good, though, and it is quite clean, like the horse barn. We, fortunately, had our camp toilet with us. INFORMATIONAL: four-wheel or all-wheel recommended for the two downslope campsites. We would stay here again.
