Camp in a tropical urban oasis right on the historic Hillsborough River, just a few miles north of downtown Tampa, at the headquarters of the Dirty Heights Boat Club and Old Seminole Heights Citizens Navy.
We offer three spacious campsites on peaceful private property that fronts the blackwater river, where we often spot manatee, dolphins, snook, tarpon, ‘gator, and all sorts of shorebirds.
On the southern edge of our rustic paradise is a spring-fed tidal canal abundant in marsh clams and marine life, even the occasional manatee. We hope you'll go for a swim if the mood strikes.
You’re welcome to enjoy our spacious docks, hammock, treehouse platform, and two kayaks. Have fun paddling the Gheenoe, too, but it takes on water.
We keep a small vegetable garden and several fruit trees and we invite guests to enjoy the bounty depending on the season. Speaking of seasons, you’re welcome to try your hand at fishing, bait casting or throwing a crab trap. We have a few neighbors who even take swims occasionally.
Amenities include a bonfire and a modern outhouse with bidet and an outdoor shower with hot and cold water. We also provide access to a small refrigerator, gas grill, propane burners, electrical outlets, extension cords, fans, water spigots and hose, sink, table and chairs. We have firewood sometimes but you might have to fetch your own if you want to be sure.
By land, we’re just a few blocks from the world famous American Legion Post 111, Bo’s Ice Cream (est. 1954), Bamboozle Cafe and Heights Pizza. You’re welcome to use our bicycles to ride a little farther to Mekanita Cantina, Curaleaf, Rooster & The Till, Publix or Three Coins Diner.
