    The Deval Creek area was once inhabited by Florida Native tribes. More recent times, a dam was resurrected to create about a 12 acre pond. Since then, the dam was breached by a hurricane and the creek has turned to its normal flow, albeit on a somewhat different course. The camping area actually sits upon the dam.
