The Vacationist offers the chance to sleep in a beautifully designed bespoke eco-cabin in your own peaceful meadow. Fully off-grid, available all year-round and with 4 comfortable berths, this is your chance to escape it all without compromising on comfort, location or eco credentials. The Vacationist has been carefully designed to balance luxury, freedom and environmental impact. We wanted to help people reduce the carbon impact of their holiday by offering them a luxurious, comfortable and relaxing alternative in the UK. This is as close to net zero travel as you can get! We also wanted our guests to experience the joy of a outdoors, off-grid escape, where the kids can run around fields and climb trees and the adults can sit around the fire drinking wine and watching the stars. This is what memories are made of. The cabin is full of eco-technology and features solar panels, infrared heating, a bio-ethanol burner, double-glazed windows, water saving technology and sheep's wool insulation. We've repurposed where we can and also worked with partners chosen for their dedication to sustainable design - you will marvel at the story of our sofas and our painstakingly-assembled (with the help of our local school) ‘coloured-pencil’ epoxy kitchen counter. And your kids will love the hidden bookcase room - it was designed by our kids for your kids, so we're confident it will go down well! Eco-glamping meets 5 star luxury!
With kids
The Vacationist is eco-glamping in total style!! The cabin was stunning with so many beautiful details and a super fun secret bedroom for our daughter. The views from every window were stunning and we genuinely felt like we were in a cosy cocoon in the middle of nowhere (although you are only a very short drive from civilisation). So many lovely touches like chocolates on the beds on arrival, hot water bottles, a craft box and books to read for both adults and kiddos (I would definitely recommend reading the books about Ruth & Guys American adventure and the Vacationist build!). The cabin felt comfortable and luxurious in equal measure! Overall a 5+ star stay, we loved every minute and will definitely be back!! Thank you so much!

We absolutely loved our stay at the vacationist cabin, can't fault it one bit! It's such an amazing space, the cabin is exquisite and is nestled in a stunning location, Ruth & Guy have done a fantastic job with it. We encountered all manner of wildlife during our stay, including buzzards, kestrels, dragonflies, rabbits and were incredibly lucky to have witnessed the baby blue tits fledging! (there's a bird box fixed to the cabin). The previous day we also sat on the deck and watched mamma blue tit flying back and forth to feed her babies - it was the best experience. Who needs phones when you have all of that entertainment, we barely touched them for the whole stay. There's plenty of boardgames on offer, countryside to explore and wildflower meadows to gaze into and watch the wildlife. Bring a pair of binoculars! It's a great place to switch off and relax. The off-grid aspect really adds to the whole experience and we had no issues with power or water, etc. The cabin was clean and tidy and we were provided with everything we needed for our stay, including the lovely welcome hamper which we opted for - a really nice touch. I could go on and on but you really need to visit and experience it for yourself. I would visit again in a heartbeat, thanks so much for having us!

Stylish and comfortable cabin!
With kids
We loved The Vacationist's modern interior design , super comfy and stylish. 😍 The kids loved finding their hidden bedroom behind a 'secret door'! What a treat! We played board games, ate cakes from the welcome hamper and walked to the neighbouring fields to say hi to the horses. We had planned to walk to the local pub but we were far to content in our cabin! We stayed in winter and it was zero degrees outside but the underfloor heating and the bioethanol fireplace kept us cozy and warm, plus a lovely extra touch with hot water bottles on the beds! We loved our stay, we were really looked after by Ruth the host, who even checked to make sure we were warm enough. Thank you for a great stay!!
