Peace, privacy and a slice of countryside living are common descriptions when marketing a new glampsite. But at certain locations, these are far more than just advertising buzzwords. Upper House Glamping is one such a place, where tranquility and relaxation is guaranteed by one simple fact: there's only one single shepherd's hut, ensuring guests have a private holiday experience amongst Herefordshire's rolling agricultural landscapes.
Traditionally styled in forest green, the exclusive hut - hiding in a field behind a characterful oak-frame cottage - seems to blend into the rural backdrop, but within, the luxurious interior offers something more than its rustic facade suggests. Homely uplit wooden walls suit the scene perfectly and house excellent facilities like a Divan double bed, kitchenette, cosy woodburner, and ensuite with hot and cold running water, shower, flushing loo and thoughtfully supplied with bottles of toiletries. Step outside, meanwhile, and the jewel in the luxury lovers crown awaits: a luxurious Zoki sauna, only yards from the hut – perfect for relaxing after days spent exploring.
Though the mod-cons and exclusive feel of being the sole occupants of the meadow (minus the sheep) is undoubtedly what makes Upper House Glamping special, the location is also difficult to knock. Sandwiched between the Forest of Dean and the Malvern Hills, the site is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. The former is the oldest oak forest in England and a scenic spot for mountain biking, canoeing and kayaking. Whilst, the Malverns is first-rate walking country, with a network of hiking trails, most of which can be completed in a half-day. Great Malvern is the obvious choice for first-time visitors, and on a clear day, walkers who reach the summit are rewarded with views of 15 counties. Closer to home, there are walks from the hut door, with the Herefordshire trail only a field away, and Ledbury - with its antique shops and delightful medieval Market House - just 1.5 miles down a lovely lane.
Naturally, there are some holidaymakers for whom Upper House Glamping simply won’t suit. Groups, dog owners, and children are all out of luck. But for couples especially, the site offers a wonderfully romantic getaway, with private countryside views, plenty of kit and caboodle to keep you warm and comfortable, and best yet, some good old-fashioned peace and quiet. In fact, at night, the only sound you're likely to hear is an owl in the nearby woods.
If you love beautiful views, bucolic serenity and value your privacy (your the only unit we have!), our luxury hut ticks all the boxes. It's fully connected to mains electricity, fibre WIFI and water. It even has its own en suite in the hut so no trudging outside in the middle of the night.
