We border a national forest where you can hike and just enjoy the outdoors. The Ceran Saint Vrain trailhead is less than one mile away and Brainard Lake is a short 20 minute drive. If you feel as you need to go to town, Boulder, Estes Park, and Nederland are all a 30 min drive. Away, yet close enough! Please read entirely: Enjoy spectacular views of the Indian Peaks and surrounding mountains all in complete privacy while enjoying the glamping experience of being in an insulated space. The wood burning stove provides heat and you can enjoy modern day amenities such as WiFi and electricity generated by solar all while being completely off-grid! There’s no running water, so please bring as much water as you will need for your stay. The outhouse has a toilet only. There’s an outside cold water shower, that can be used during non-freezing temperatures. If you need more water, we do have a water spigot with well water available about 1/4 mile away from the Blue Bear. Our 5 year old son cuts firewood, so that he can buy a toy of his choice. The firewood is $5 the bundle. One bundle usually lasts for one night. Note: In order to preserve water and lessen our carbon footprint, we encourage you to bring your own bed sheets or sleeping bag. If you would like for us to include sheets, pillow cases and comforter, a $20 additional fee will be applied. Pets are welcome for an extra $50. Please make sure your pet is accounted for on the reservation. Thanks. We can also accommodate your horse overnight, if you like to explore the trails on horseback. Please let us know ahead of time, so we can provide you the link to stay with your horse. Check-in instructions: Once you are on Hickok trail, you will get to a black gate. Please use the code: four times the number four, then press enter (the button with four arrows on it) to open the gate. Then follow the signs to the Blue Bear. The key is located in the black box next to the entrance door. On your way out, the gate will open once you approach it with your car. WiFi: Starlink Password: Bluebearguest1 For those sensitive to scents, we have added an essential oil diffuser to help keep flies away during the summer months. The scents used are peppermint, citronella, lemongrass, geranium and cedar wood. Feel free to put the diffuser outside if the scent is too strong.

Hipcamp all owners are teaching you
Hipcamp is a bit weird. All the places owners say they are protecting the environment but they make the guests do all the dirty work. If it was cheap, I would understand but they ask you to pay about $200 and also pay for everything like blankets, campfire wood, etc. Even if you put your trash in a bag and collect it well, they blame you if you don't take it with you. Most of the places are old but they don't apologize for it. They charge you the same or more price than Air BnB but there is no service spirit and the guests have to do everything. They make the guests responsible for protecting the environment and the owners try to teach and watch the guests from behind. I don't think I will use Hipcamp anymore.

We loved the privacy, the views, and the cozy stay. The stars were super bright at night. The small wood stove inside is a nice touch.

The Blue Bear
Wonderful Glamping Experience
The Blue Bear was a great spot to get away and have privacy in nature but without giving up conveniences. A great balance and exactly what we were looking for. Very nice host and cleanest outhouse I’ve used. Definitely climb around the rocks!

Excellent experience
A fabulous location to get away from it all. I can’t rave enough about this location and amenities. We will be back next year when we visit Colorado again.

The Blue Bear
Great views, Amenities, and Host!
The blue bear was a perfect retreat to disconnect and have some bonding time with my mom. Driving there is super easy as long as you punch in the directions before hand and it always helps downloading sections of a maps in your apple map or google map in case of loss of service. Most of the drive is on asphalt road and the last stretch (felt like 1/2 a mile) was dirt road but even my Toyota Camry (sedan) handled it with ease. The blue bear was very clean with enough amenities to have a very comfortable stay like a gas grill, outdoor fire pit, wifi, and electricity. Although I did not get to try the shower I did turn it on and found it to have strong water pressure. Property had wood bundles available to purchase which was very nice. In doors we made use of the microwave and the paper plates and plastic cutlery. The bed upstairs was comfortable with a window that allowed airflow. Large windows downstairs and large door with mosquito net to keep out bugs while allowing that fresh air to come in. The view from the blue bear is AMAZING with practically no mountains to obtrude the sun set. Due to location of the blue bear on the mountain you get plenty of sunlight from sunrise to sunset.
