Sweetwater River Resort is located on the Arkansas river, 30 minutes from Canyon City and 30 minutes from Salida where Hwy 50 follows the river through Bighorn Canyon. Skiers, we are only 40 miles from Monarch Ski Resort. You’ll enter a different world–a sanctuary away from the fast pace and pressures of ordinary life. Sweetwater River Resort is a nature-lovers, outdoor enthusiasts, and fly fishing fanatic’s dream nestled on the banks of the beautiful juniper-lined Arkansas River. You’ll find uncrowded sites to unwind with plenty of rivers to explore outside the confines of city life. At night you’ll find the clearest skies around, perfect for stargazing. RV River 5 - 50/30amp pull-through

Riverfront campsite

Nice location on the river. It's about a 30 minute (beautiful) drive from Royal Gorge and Cañon City, with just a gas station and convenience store on the other side in Cotopaxi. We didn't have any issues while we were there. Firewood is available for purchase. Knocked it down a star due to the road noise at night.

CORRAL #2

I am hesitant to write this review because this place is almost too special to share with others! Nestled in the Arkansas River Valley, with the river flowing high just near our campsite, and with snow capped peaks visible in the distance - this place was wonderful. The suspension bridge was exhilarating and added a thrill to an idyllic campsite. We’re already planning our trip for next summer!

CORRAL #1

Camping on the River!

We loved our spot overlooking the Arkansas River. The staff was very helpful and the bathroom was clean, didn’t have bugs, and was more spacious than what we are used to. This spot is located close to amazing outdoor adventures. It was really cool to white water raft past our spot! Definitely would come back!

RV Mtn. 3 - 50amp pull-through

It was so nice having a pull through, full hookup spot for our 40 foot fifth wheel. Having the river one row over was a huge plus. It was a quiet, beautiful campground we will most definitely stay at again.

The Ramblin' Man

The road noise was a little overwhelming if your in a tent. The bridge was cool and the river was lovely. The bathrooms needed some TLC maybe a working hand dryer would have been nice.

We loved being on the water and having a full hookup, but the sites are pretty close together and the highway noise can be distracting.
