Sweetwater River Resort is located on the Arkansas river, 30 minutes from Canyon City and 30 minutes from Salida where Hwy 50 follows the river through Bighorn Canyon. Sweetwater River Resort is a nature-lovers, outdoor enthusiasts, and fly fishing fanatic’s dream nestled on the banks of the beautiful juniper-lined Arkansas River. You’ll find uncrowded sites to unwind with plenty of rivers to explore outside the confines of city life. At night you’ll find the clearest skies around, perfect for stargazing. Located near numerous attractions, Sweetwater River Resort is a short drive from 45 miles of 4x4 and ATV trails at Texas Creek, the Arkansas Headwaters Hiking Area, Vallie Bridge Loma Linda, Lone Pine, Hayden Creek, Royal Gorge, and The Bluff Trail Hiking in Westcliffe. A great little campground. Would highly recommend! Great location on the river. Amenities were as described. Smooth check in process. Campground host was helpful.

Sweet times at Sweetwater

What went well? Everything. The host was amazing and very helpful with everything we needed assistance with. We’re new RV users and he showed us (and helped) with hooking up water and the sewage. The ambience of the park is so cute and perfect for sunset/sunrise photos. All around a wonderful place to camp and hopefully can come back to!

RV Mtn. 6 - 30amp pull-through

Loved it!

It was relaxing and scenic! I'll definitely be back often. The staff was great and fellow campers were helpful/ friendly. Beautiful views in every direction. The highway nearby is pretty quiet at night and the river offsets a lot the sound. It's close to Canon City, Salida and Bunea Vista. I highly recommend!! 💚

Pioneer Cabin #1

Great experience!

What a perfect spot! The cabin was quaint and had a mini fridge, microwave, fan (bring another for the hot summer days like we did!), coffee maker, sink, 2 queen beds and the river steps away. When you arrive you may think everything is situated close by eachother but you have a ton of privacy with trees and wooded area. The bathrooms and showers are clean as well! Our pup also had a great time! We brought our bug zapper which I highly recommend and the mosquitos are bonkers so bring your spray. No complaints and we will def be back!

Pioneer Cabin #2

Waterfront views

Absolutely breathtaking. Just feet away from the Arkansas River next to the road but still very private. The restrooms are orderlyish but on the plus side they have hot water. The host was amazing. The cabin was clean it comes with two queen beds.

RV Mtn. 6 - 30amp pull-through

Great manager. Ok spot

Gavin the manager was very communicative and helpful. Our original RV spot, though we were tent camping, lacked a picnic table and was covered with fire ants. He got us one of the little cabins right by the river. Much better. Pretty views in general. Overall, it’s is very close to the highway and other campers, so not much privacy. The river spots are nicer and the tent spots across the river. Remember you have to walk your things over the bridge to get to those; they provide carts to help you though.
