Little Scraggy Camp is located on 95 acres of an historic 160-acre ranch that was homesteaded by our family in the 1890’s, and is on the National Register of Historic Places. This totally off-grid ranch is surrounded by Pike National Forest, yet has easy access from a paved road. We offer several accommodations and glamping sites, as well as sites for moderate sized RVs, travel trailers, tents, and hammocks. Additionally, we have sites for small groups (up to 14 people) and large groups (35-200 people). Potable drinking water is available from onsite 270-gallon water tanks. Portable toilets are only a short walk away from sites. Friendly dogs are welcome to enjoy your campsite off leash, but please clean up after your dog. If your pet has any aggressive tendencies, it must be leashed. Recently added is a 4 hole disc golf putting course for you to practice your shots or try your hand, with 4 sets of discs provided. We also have a cornhole toss game at both the glamping/rv camp area and tent/rv area. We are an ideal basecamp for the casual or dedicated trail enthusiast. The ranch itself has several trails and easy trail loops to explore within and just outside of the ranch’s fence lines, with direct access to the 9.5-mile Little Scraggy Trail and Segment #3 of the Colorado Trail. Just 3.5 miles away is the Little Scraggy Trailhead, where you will find easy access for biking, hiking, or horseback riding on the many other trails of the Buffalo Creek area. Additionally, we have an extensive network of hiking and horse trails that avoid conflicts with mountain bikers. You might prefer rock climbing Little Scraggy or fishing the gold-medal waters of the South Platte River canyon below Cheesman Dam and the waters near Deckers. For a day trip, Wellington Lake is only 30 minutes away for no-wake water sports. Many people enjoy kayaking on the North Fork of the South Platte downstream from nearby Buffalo Creek. This is a working ranch where we raise and train horses and ponies. Our particular interest is in carriage driving, and we offer driving experiences upon request. Our site called Mountain Horse Camp, provides 3 individual porta-panel horse corrals. There is limited cell service.

Crooked Tree Corner
This is my second time camping here. The area is beautiful and the camp sites are well maintained. This time I got the chance to meet the camp manager Josh at the gate when arriving. He seems like a lovely human. I will definitely continue camping here when I stay in Colorado!

Colonel's Tent
Great visit but one concern.
We had a great visit at this campsite. We stayed here for 5 nights, and the property was quiet most of the time. Having the fire barrel available was great, the on-site water tank was a huge help, and the porta potty was nice to have too. The tent was dirtier than advertised, and I was glad we brought our own broom because there was a broom head only (no handle) available in the tent, and a decent broom was definitely needed to clean out the bugs and spiders before occupying the tent. The rest of the week was great & peaceful until the last night when we woke up to nearby tent site occupants loudly laughing/talking at 1:00 am and the same occupants were loudly having sex from 4:30-5:15am. I informed the host and she replied that although awkward, she "doesn't know how to implement a sex policy lol". I replied that she has quiet hours and if anything, that should fall under that, especially considering it is supposed to be a family-friendly campsite and we had our 3 young children with us in the tent. Thankfully, they didn't wake up during that timeframe. More than anything, I was a little bothered by the host's lack of concern for the noise, let alone the type of noise that was happening within earshot of 3-4 other occupied tent sites all throughout the night. We had a great visit otherwise, and this incident didn't put a damper on our memories necessarily, but others should be aware of the host's potential lack of concern for maintaining a family friendly environment.

Major's Camp
We had a wonderful time at majors camp. The site was very spacious, spread out from others. Even though we were closer to the road it didn’t effect the peacefulness of the surrounding area at all. If you’re thinking about booking, you definitely should!

Travois Lines Group Camp
This tent was so thoughtfully stocked for a wonderful night! I was surprised at how little of my camping gear we needed for our stay. The bed was so incredibly comfortable!

Tent camping with dog
It was great for tenting and being able to have our dog off leash during the stay. Was able to have fires both nights and bathroom close by.

Cavalry Camp
Best first time camping experience!
This was my first time camping ever and I am happy to say that I did it at Calvary camp. It was absolutely blissful and amazing and I can't wait to go back!!! It is definitely worth a visit. You're near other campers while not being near enough to be in their face, You don't see them unless you go over there to their area my dogs loved it and enjoyed it. Enough open space for them to play without interference of other campers!
