Kurt's Yurt
Yurt Paradise
Leaving Kurt's Yurt was the saddest I've felt in a long time. Kurt had everything we needed for our mini vacation in the sticks! The Yurt itself is nestled in a private grove of trees next to a stream and fit 6 of us comfortably. The fire pit is a few feet away down a path and the grill on the deck was a great addition for our burger-cookin. Thank you for having us at your mini-paradise, Kurt! We will definitely be back!!

Kurt's Yurt
Kurt's Yurt is adorable as it looks and is nestled in one of the most beautiful mountainous settings I've ever seen. There was lots of firewood (which we definitely needed!), and by meticulously following Kurt's tips we were able to get a good fire going in the wood stove. The yurt has tons of thoughtful amenities like games, blankets, pots and pans, and lanterns. We cooked up some pasta on the gas stove, melted snow for water, went on a backcountry snowshoe/ski excursion, and played Scrabble! Make sure to acclimate to the altitude before going up, drink lots of water, and read about altitude sickness ahead of time! Kurt sends lots of helpful information about directions and snow conditions beforehand, which is key in winter. We were able to park almost at the yurt and only snowshoed in about half a mile. Super easy and awesome spot!

Kurt's Yurt
Kurt's yurt was a lot of fun for my son and I. We got to break away from it all and have a great adventure in the forest. It was 10 degrees for a low on the night we stayed with a strong wind and we were nice and cozy in the yurt with the wood stove.
Kurt's Yurt
Drove many hours to the Yurt, only to find out it was double-booked by the host and another party was already there. Host apologized, issued refund, and offered free night in future. Looks like it would have been fun, but a lot of wasted time and disappointment.

Kurt's Yurt
Kurt' said yurt is a little piece of heaven! Everything you need, beautiful views, and perfectly quiet to escape the hustle and bustle of the world. We've been here two years on a row and positive we'll be back for a third!

Kurt's Yurt
It was great to get away to Kurt’s Yurt! It was really on the edge of nowhere and Kurt puts a lot into coordinating a great experience. His directions are superb. I wasn’t counting on the road in taking so long and I even found the yurt in the dark. He has it clearly marked with white “Kurt’s Yurt” signs. Be warned it takes an hour to drive the road in once you leave the highway. The road is a rocky dirt road accessing National Forest land. The last 2 miles becomes a near 4x4 road, but I made it up despite not having a high clearance vehicle. It’s just bumpy that’s all. Nevertheless this didn’t discourage me, nor should it you. The Yurt is wonderfully equipped with pots, pans, a propane refrigerator, and a propane stove. Best of all are the composting toilet actually inside the Yurt, and the stove is a solidly constructed wonder that throws off a lot of heat. Kurt has stocked the deck with loads of wood. Kurt does have some water on hand, but it does help to bring what you need. The trick is lugging it down the hill, which is quite steep and a little slippery if covered in snowpack. But I knew what I was getting into going during the shoulder season. I hiked almost all the way to the Horseshoe amphitheater. It was magnificent. I’m so glad I stayed in Kurt’s Yurt! He is really gracious to share it. Thanks Kurt!
