Located on the John Muir Historic route to Yosemite National Park, Yosemite Westlake Campground and RV Park is convenient to all things Yosemite. Between here and the park is Rainbow Pool, a well-known swimming hole that campers here often visit on their way back to the campground for a refreshing dip in the cool waters. Coulterville was started as a gold-rush town. You can visit the museum and visitor center even try your hand at panning for gold.

Yosemite Westlake Tent Site #10
Good family campground outside Yose
Tent site #10 is not a specific site, just a claim to get a site somewhere in the campground- which could go either way I suppose based on when you arrive (early after check in time or late). John tracked us down on his bike and shepherded us to a couple spots to choose from and helped acclimate us. We had a nice spot with late afternoon shade behind a big Oak tree. The restrooms and shower were very handy and perfectly functional (great for the wife and kids) as was the communal sink area- for diswashing. Get there as early as you can to set up. The fire pits and picnic tables were able to be moved which is not usually the case, so that helped in our ability to manage and customize our site relative to what we brought. Overall good. Nice camp hosts Mac and John (informative about the area and Park). We had a fairly easy time with traffic in the 3rd week of June. Getting to Hetch Hetchy at 11am was no big deal (1+ hour from camp) and I think the overall ride from Curry Village back to camp (leaving at 8pm) took about 1.5 hours with very minimal traffic. Biggest lesson we learned- get your reservation ticket to enter the park well in advance, otherwise you can't get in till after 4pm-on weekends and holidays. I had an Interagency Access Pass that did allow us to get to the reservior and in through Big Oak Flat gates for free which was nice. Thankful for the hospitality of Mac and John, and your efforts in caring for your campground!

Very cozy. Nice hot showers, clean bathrooms, sink to do the dishes, a grill - what else does a camper need?!

Yosemite Westlake Tent Site #10
Great place to hang out and plan your Yosemite activities! It's got a community vibe and it's quiet - depending on the other guests of course. The sites are essentially first come first serve. We had a great time. The actual park is about 30 - 35 minutes away. There's a bathroom with showers that were clean and the restrooms were enclosed for privacy - complete with a sink in the 'private' bathroom. We had a great time!
