Nestled in the oak-studded hills of North West Atascadero a charming site awaits you...an unforgettable destination surprise. A charming old country road leads to a sole-campsite exclusively for you and friends/family. The bathroom is straight out of the Hobbit, equipped with hot/cold water, stall shower, fluffy white towels and camping supplies. The propane firepit is perfect for evening gatherings with your companions and marshmallow roasts (read: S'mores). (Sorry...no open wood fires) A hand-carved trail surrounds the area: complete with a suspension bridge, chicken coup, rocky bridge and fish pond. Additionally, we provide a sustainable eco-friendly environment for our guests: including trash, recycling and composting receptacles. Also wildlife galore: plenty of turkeys, deer, racoons and quail. The nights are dark but we provide flashlights...then turn the flashlights off for a dazzling evening of stargazing. Atascadero is the perfect base for discovering the Central Coast: wineries/tasting rooms, olive oil tasting, abundant trails for walking/hiking; golfing as well as exploring the beaches: Morro Bay, Avila Beach, Montana de Oro, and northward to Cambria, Cayucos, San Simeon and Big Sur. All of these attractions within a 30-mnute drive. Look forward to seeing you...Located on the south side of Atascadero, Wendee's Whimsical Camp Site is a destination getaway that puts you with nature, yet mere minutes away from downtown Atascadero, and a few minutes more from the heart of some of the best wineries the world has to offer. There is only one campsite, which is yours, giving you full privacy. The campsite also provides exceptional stargazing.

Wendee's Whimsical Camp Site

Our weekend at Wendee’s Whimsical Campsite was nothing short of magical! From the moment we arrived, it was clear that every little detail had been thoughtfully curated to create an unforgettable experience. The campsite had everything you could possibly want for a cozy yet adventurous getaway—s’mores kits ready to go, binoculars for stargazing or bird watching, and the comfiest hammock for lounging in the fresh air. The adventure trails that surrounded the site offered the perfect opportunity to explore and reconnect with nature. The hosts were absolutely incredible—warm, welcoming, and truly dedicated to making sure we had the best possible stay. They’ve gone above and beyond, ensuring every corner of the site has its own touch of charm and whimsy. It’s the perfect blend of comfort and wilderness, and we could feel the love and care that went into creating this space. Whether you’re looking to unwind by the campfire, take a hike on the trails, or simply relax under the stars, Wendee’s Whimsical Campsite is the ultimate escape. We cannot recommend it highly enough! Can’t wait to return!

Wendee's Whimsical Camp Site

This campsite truly lives up to its name! From the moment we arrived, we were mesmerized by the whimsical atmosphere and attention to detail. The hosts, Wendee and William, have poured their hearts into creating a magical experience for their guests. The campsite itself is beautifully designed, with thoughtful touches throughout. We especially appreciated the clean and well-maintained bathroom – not something usually available tent camping! The surrounding property is equally impressive, with a charming trail, abundant wildlife, and stunning views. But what truly sets this campsite apart is the hospitality of the hosts. William and Wendee were incredibly welcoming and helpful, making us feel right at home. They even provided us with fresh eggs from their chickens and delicious honey from their bees! We can't recommend Wendee's Whimsical Campsite enough. It's the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and reconnect with nature. We will definitely be back! Tips for future campers: Take some time to explore the trail and enjoy the views. Say hello to the friendly chickens! Don't forget to try the delicious honey. Relax and enjoy the magical atmosphere.

We loved camping at Wendee’s whimsical campsite. The site had all the necessary amenities and much more. The site is constructed in a very creative way with so much attention to detail. Our hosts, Wendee and William were both very welcoming and helpful. We hope to visit again. P.S. they honey is delicious.

We had an amazing time! Everything was perfect, William is awesome and really cares about the campers coming to stay! He took the time to talk with us and explain everything before we arrived! He also left us some eggs from his chickens and some honey! Both were delicious! The property itself is just as amazing as well! So much to do, and having that lovely bathroom with the soft towels made it even better and made my wife happy too. It was fun and interesting to see the wildlife, several deer, some chipmunks, and different birds roaming around. We couldn’t be happier with our stay. I would recommend this place time and time again, and I am also planning on coming back soon! Thank you so much William for having us!

Wendee's Whimsical Camp Site

We needed a spot to stay as we drove southern to Northern California to break up the drive. We didn’t want to stay just anywhere as we wanted this to be a fun camping spot as well. The site was so nice for the kids and it was so thoughtfully put together. A huge plus was the very clean bathroom with a shower. There was a picnic table with an umbrella as well as a bbq. The kids were able to explore around and they had a lot of fun. The string lighting created a nice atmosphere as well as being practical. My kids enjoyed the fish pond and visiting the chickens. Great place!
