Walden Ranch began with the purchase of a neighboring 20 acres. Couple that with the inspiration of Thoreau's lines and life at the real Walden Pond, the ranch has grown to nearly 300 acres and the small ranch pond has grown to a 5-acre lake with a 3-acre forest and home. Scouts, family and church groups use the site for gatherings. Available are canoes, bonfire, and exploring the ranch's 300-head cattle, llamas, poultry and wildlife.  Pitch your tent in a forest setting alongside a lake on a working cattle ranch. Watch wildlife or hike to smaller lakes on the ranch. Other animals include dogs, llamas, geese, chickens, and  horses.  The ranch is within a 20 minute drive to either Stockton or Lodi, CA and is surrounded by vineyards, orchards and pastures.  Outdoor flush toilets, sink, tables and fire ring available. Forested area is set amidst grazing lands.  This "Walden" even has willow trees slipped from Walden Pond, MA. Owner looks forward to sharing this peaceful, special spot! Pitch your tent in a forest setting alongside a lake on a working cattle ranch. Walden Ranch Camping
Really peaceful with wide flat landscapes, cows and horses and alpacas, friendly playful dogs. Tall trees that shimmered throughout my night and morning, lulling me in my sleep. There were some peach trees but the fruit wasn't quite soft yet. Alan was very friendly and kind and immediately made me feel at home.

Great fun if you like farm animals
First time camp inside a ranch, was having so much fun with all the animals around you, dogs chickens horses lama cattle, etc. Kids are loving it. They provide endless firewood for a set amount of money but well worth it. Bathrooms are clean but dark inside during the day. Only provided cold water shower but it’s fine for the summer weather. Be aware since farm animals are around your campground it will be noisy in the early morning. All in all a fun experience for the whole family.

Very nice campground and ranch.
Very beautiful ranch and pond side campground with toilets and showers. Highly recommend a walk around the ranch. Epic shade from trees & forest planted around pond by host Alan over several decades.

Lovely stay at Walden
We greatly enjoyed our stay. This is a really lovely place. The campsite is very private, shady, has picnic table , toilets and (cold) shower. Host is super nice too! We would love to be back.

Wonderful camping site on a farm!
Alan is an extremely kind and friendly host to the wonderful ranch that he's built up over the years. The campground itself is well-equipped with a sink and potable water, flush toilets, shower, fire pit, and plenty of seating. There's abundant space for pitching your tent wherever you prefer, and an adjacent pond with canoes and lifejackets available as well. In the surrounding lands there are horses, cows, llamas, chickens, and peacocks, and we were able to help out by feeding a blind baby cow, and giving a whole crowd of cows a tasty snack on the back of a hayride. Alan has a bunch of dogs roaming the place as well which are fun to hang out with. The ranch is well-located near Lodi and Stockton should you need to venture out for anything, or want to explore surrounding attractions. My daughter and I really enjoyed the whole experience and won't hesitate to return.

Ranch Camping
This is thee best place to camp for non campers. The sites are beautiful and not to close together. The host and staff are wonderful and don’t mind answering questions ( curious kids). Feeding the calf, llamas and the calf are experience my family and I will never forget. Even took a nap under the trees. Also, you would never know you were on a cattle ranch.
