We have a small cabin (The Playhouse) and 15 campsites. No Pets, No Smoking ADULTS ONLY. Spirit Walk is a quiet meditative place. It is not a conducive environment for young children. The Playhouse at Spirit Walk
Our stay at Spirit Walk was truly magical and far exceeded our expectations. The beauty of the mature oak trees surrounding the site made for a serene and peaceful atmosphere, perfect for reconnecting with nature. One of the hidden gems of this spot was the outdoor shower tucked away in nature—it quickly became my favorite part of the experience. Another highlight was stream that ran through the property and we greatly enjoyed soaking in the pools of water with small waterfalls. These natural features provided a tranquil setting to soak and relax, offering a refreshing break during our stay. The scenery alone is worth the trip, but the thoughtful details throughout the site made it truly special. We can't wait to return!

The Playhouse at Spirit Walk
A peaceful retreat
John has a truly great plot of land full of oak trees and natural terrain. It is within a short distance of two very small towns with a handful of antique stores, a great museum, Isabella Lake and dam, and the Kern River. We made sure to check out what the area had to offer, and the little cabin provided a great retreat. Our first night there was a thunderstorm out of the blue, and it was amazing watching the lightning clear as can be from the loft window. This was between 80° days, and even after a few heat waves this year the stream on his property had not yet run dry. While there may not be amenities such as a refrigerator or television, the relaxing ambiance was well worth the trip.

Our experience at SpiritWalk was amazing! Felt so safe and held by all the trees, animals, and nature surrounding us! All the utilities functioned well and provided more than expected :) I simply just loved everything about it!!! My favs would definitely be the outdoor shower and labyrinth! Our host was super chill, patient, and helpful. I can’t wait to come back & visit 🫶🏼

Stargazer
John (the host) truly curated this entire property for your enjoyment as one of his guests. The property is beautiful, accessible, and comfortable. Each of the campsites were lovely and perfectly suited for a 2+ person tent (most of them good for 4+ person tents). The swimming holes and shower / bathroom were lovely. The kitchen area had everything you needed. John walked us on speaker phone through a "virtual tour" and was on point with everything we needed. 10/10 would recommend.

Stargazer
For Stargazing and Sunrises!
Spirit Walk Retreat was such a peaceful and relaxing getaway. My friend and I were looking for a place to camp for a day or two that still had some creature comforts of home (showers, bathroom, kitchen), but still all the charm and whimsy of spending a few days/nights in the woods; waking up with the sun, and stargazing all through the night. It was great to feel like you’re spending some time away from the everyday hustle and bustle of normal life. It can be hard sometimes to really pause, take a breath of fresh air and enjoy life a little more, but John’s land at Spirit Walk made it easy. I highly recommend this place to other hipcampers, whether you’re just passing through the area, or you’re looking for a peaceful retreat. As a plus, the town nearby, Kernville, has some fantastic vintage/antique stores and the cutest, little coffee shop that we were lucky enough to check out before heading back home to LA. Thanks again John!
