Private ADULT ONLY camping. With a central outdoor kitchen and dining area, group fire pit, & a bathroom with a composting toilet, sink, & shower. Seasonal creek. Quiet and private. We have a small cabin (The Playhouse) and 15 campsites. No Pets, No Smoking ADULTS ONLY. Spirit Walk is a quiet meditative place. It is not a conducive environment for young children. Thank you for understanding. Lake Isabella, the Kern River and historic Kernville are just 5 minutes down the road. All Hipcamp proceeds go directly back into the land in the way of forest maintenance, a tree planting program and improvements to the facilities.

Stargazer
Stargazer was the perfect place for our first tent camping experience! John's property is well cared for and you can tell there is intention behind all the details. The creek running through the property was the perfect place to lounge and cool down on a warm day.

Stargazer
John’s land is absolutely wonderful and so peaceful. Our site was perfect. The stars at night were spectacular. The creek was so refreshing and calming. Great facilities and very clean. Outdoor shower was lovely in the morning sun and relaxing at night. The communal areas were also really nice. The kitchen set up and eating area was beautifully set up. And such a nice setting to socialize with your camping neighbors. A bear came by and knocked over the bear boxes, but we didn’t see them around ourselves. Just lots of cute squirrels and lizards. John was very communicative and friendly. He gave us the run down when we arrived and kept in contact with us when we needed. Thank you, John!

Creekside Campsite
Great Campsite for small groups
John's description of the land is impeccable. It is ideal for a retreat setting, or for a small group hoping to find some private camping within reasonable proximity of the sequoias. This is not land where you can party. It's designed for small retreats. The land has many practical amenities. Fire pits, compost toilets, clean and delicious water from the several faucets. Lot's of shade. Stoves, sinks, utensils etc. The creek was running during our stay. It was deep enough in portions for us to take a dip and cool off. The temperatures were high during our stay (just under 100 degrees) The air is dry in the summer and having clean water is very helpful. The shade made it manageable. Being able to explore the nearby wilderness without the crowded campsites in the sequoias was wonderful. My girlfriend and I were looking for a quiet place to recharge after a long year and we got that. The land is certainly spiritual. The Spirits there will leave you alone if you want them to. Initially though they may try to communicate with you. There doesn't seem to be anything malicious in these lands. As someone who has had my fair share of spooky encounters in the California wilderness, you won't have to worry about it. Great place to pray. Lots of silence / solitude. Lots of wildlife. Just respect the land and take good care of it. I'm not sure if you believe in some of the Native American Spirituality, but it seems like there is some sort of guardian spirit on that land.

Under the Oak
I came with my boyfriend to John’s land & we had such a great time for the weekend. John was very helpful & his directions were clear for us to follow. We stayed under the oak tree & it was wonderful with the shade (it was about 105 degrees) & you can hear the creek running behind the rocks. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking & all bear proof (we had a bear encounter so it was really tested out aha) the bathrooms are clean & the compost toilet was easy to use, as I’ve never used one before. We also went down to the creek & it was beautiful! Lots of shade & the water was perfect temperature to cool down & swim. The land is close by the town so we had lunch & sweet treats there because we didn’t wanna risk being too much food to camp with the possibility of bears being close by. We went down to the river & swam a bit. Overall I would definitely come back a visit again. John provided everything we needed & we loved how much thought was put into his land. Thank you !
