Our farm land has a rich and diverse history. For the last 20 years, the six acre plot of land remained untouched. In Spring of 2012 the property was purchased by Preston Raisin with dreams of creating a diverse and biointensive farm. He envisioned a space where the local community and visitors to Sonoma could share an authentic farm experience. He worked from sun up to sun down preparing the soil for planting, irrigating the land, and sowing the seeds for this vision to grow.
In the Summer of 2013 Preston opened the farm and farmstand to the public for seven days a week offering a community-oriented 'You Pick and Picnic' approach to the usual inaccessible world of farming. He wanted people to feel connected to their local food source.
Summer 2014 was abundant and fruitful. So much so, that we had to expand our business model and bring our bounty of produce to the people. Preston and his team vended at six farmers markets a week from June through September stretching from Marin to Sonoma. As the summer markets wound down, they opened up a 'Pick Your Own Pumpkin Patch' every weekend of October. It was a joy to watch children and their parents alike pick heirloom pumpkins off the vine.
After a few years without a proper greenhouse for propagation, we used our community resources and repurposed an old greenhouse from a local nursery down the road.
This new year has brought new ideas though. We want to keep growing our movement and reach people outside of our Sonoma Valley family.
Surrounded by the rolling hills of Sonoma Valley, we give guests a chance to unplug from their hectic worlds and reconnect with their roots..
