Nomadic camping
Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
Feel the sand beneath your feet at this private campsite with a large fire pit, paved road access and the Salton Sea shoreline in walking distance! This property is at the north end of Salton City and has unique trails to explore with views of the mountains to the west and water to the east. Walk to the north end of Camino Dr to find the new Vegetation Enhancement program using hay bales to control dust and hold moisture for new plant life. Or pull up a lounge chair and watch powered paragliders flying along the shoreline of the Salton Sea.Currently the driveway onto the property can only be accessed with an all-wheel drive Sprinter van-type vehicle or SUV with moderate clearance. Cars should park on the street. We have planted a few desert plants and succulents so feel free to water any vegetation on the property including the palm trees. Campfires are allowed! There are no toilets or water so campers will need to bring their own accommodations. RVs, trailers and sprinter vans work great for this site but tent camping is fine. Pack in and pack out policy applies. Relax under the stars and book this hipcamp today. You will be given the address, GPS coordinates and markers to the property upon booking. Things to do and amenities nearby: -Hiking, biking and designated off-roading areas are located directly from the property! -This is a popular area to see power paragliders cruising along the shoreline of the Salton Sea. -Chevron, Coffee Bean, KFC, Taco Bell, Cinnabon, Dollar Tree, Alamo restaurant, West Shores Market and all the supplies you need are 6 miles away. -Get dinner and have some night life fun at Red Earth Casino 5 miles away.

It was a really nice spot. Not much traffic and nice views of the lake.

Nice lot but not great for any star
Easy to find even at night. The drop point was exactly where the lot is. The Hosts lot is fantastic but there were other factors we didn't know about that lead us to leave and not actually stay the night. We came after dark so it's hard to say much about the site itself but there was a nice open spot we pulled our full size truck into with no problems. There was a little camp fire circle that was very cool and convenient to have despite not using it. But what lead us to leave was the immense light pollution. There was a TON of lights around the property. It didn't feel like a camping vibe more like you're pulling into a neighborhood and staying in an empty lot. Which made us feel a little wierd. Wasn't near the lake at all just in a neighborhood before the lake. Houses all around lights on, casino up the street with very bright advertisements flashing. The lake STUNK like sewage. Just a really not great stargazer, get away from it all, spot. I'm not giving the host a bad review because these are OUR preferences. But we will not be staying at this location again.

Kevin was great! He reached out to us immediately after booking to be sure we could access the site and to let us know we could contact him for anything we needed. The site is great for someone passing through or planning to explore the nearby state park. It works well for a tent or camper, and was easy to access with our truck. Our only issue with the site was that there was broken glass around and we had our dogs with us. That said, I might not recommend it to someone with pets. But other than that, there was no trouble!
