Wow! Amazing views and host!
Floyd and “Old” Robert have an amazing piece of land. They have clearly put an incredible amount of blood and sweat to create dirt roads and trails through rugged, gorgeous and unforgiving. The result is a camping spot with u patrolled views and privacy. This is “getting away from it all” but also able to do it with an adventurous 9 year old. I took my daughter for her 9th birthday who just wanted to go “into wilderness” with just her dad. Well, this was perfect. We met Robert at his house and he took us on an hour 4wd to his many hundred acre property. He stayed at his cabin while we camped out on a viewing deck about a quarter mile away, but worlds away in terms of privacy. He led us on a hike to a great swimming hole the next day which was a lot of fun. Getting to know Robert, he had so much knowledge to share about the land and the Yahi tribe and Ishi. We both learned a ton, had a true adventure and would come again! I dreamt of owning a space like this at some point in my life, and to be able to experience it was such a dream. Things to know - views were incredible! Bring good shoes and poison oak repellent or long pants (we’re not allergic but would be good to know). The type of people you’re dealing with are true gems. Robert brought a small cake from the store as he knew it was Audrey’s birthday and they celebrated their joint birthdays over a cake as we walked back to his cabin to use the outhouse after the dinner the second night. Can’t wait to return soon!

Ishi wilderness a dream
Backpacking into the ishi wilderness was like a dream. Our guide Robert was knowledgeable and eager to share his insights on the land and history surrounding it. Hiking through the wilderness after seeing Mt. Lassen and then hearing the music if Sulfur Creek through the breeze passing through the trees was what the beauty of nature is all about. This piece of land and the adventure in allows you to have is beyond words. I am definitely going back and I encourage anyone who loves the wilderness to go check it out.
