Windy but pretty!
So Mother Nature ruined our trip. We had excessively high winds. The listing did say there was some wind, but I didn’t allude to what we experienced. I had a feeling it was going to be windy when on the road in we saw a road sign that said “High Winds Next 17 Miles.” I asked the host’s contact, who was staying at the property above the campground, if it was normally this windy and he said no. However, locals in Borrego Springs said Ranchita is constantly VERY windy due to the mountain elevation. I found that statement to be true the two days we were at the campsite. It was so windy we couldn’t sleep, couldn’t cook, couldn’t sit outside…our camp chairs would blow away. The mountain mist that came after dark also made everything damp by morning. It was very inhospitable. Especially for tent campers. I relayed this to the host and asked for a partial refund which she gave us. That was cool, considering we had to abandon camp after the first night. If it wasn’t so windy and damp, the place would’ve been great! Maybe it’s just a bad time of year (Mid November) to be in Ranchita. The bathrooms were nice and the campgrounds were spread out. There was disc golf holes, but your frisbee would end up a mile away if you played while we were there. Anyhow, we would consider trying it again in the Spring or Summer.

Large campsite with a ton to do!
I have been camping a dozen times and this one was one of my favorite! We did have the whole site to ourselves which was a major plus. The site had very very clean restrooms close to our tent, a massive sink to help wash dishes, and many many tables for us to use throughout the site. On top of that there was a very awesome disc golf course with many many discs for us to use. We really enjoyed the disc golf. There’s also horseshoe and cornhole (bring your own bags). The stars at night are AMAZING here!! We absolutely would reverse this site again. The one downside is it is just off the freeway, but the noise wasn’t too bad.

Campgrounds are spacious themselves and not on top of each other like other places. Been there twice and bathrooms are always clean. Close to Julian and Anza Borrego. Fishing nearby.

Nigth Sky
I love the access availability and the clean bathroom. The sinks are great to clean everything easily after cooking. Would greatly recommend. Sky at nigth was a sight to see. Get out there. 😃

Came for comet, discovered fab camp
Beautiful dark sky area. The stars are out in force if there's no moon in sky. The property is large and welcoming with benches, a Frisbee golf course, horseshoes and more. Good privacy. Simply great bathrooms!! Flush toilets, sinks and well stocked. It's super quiet but the occasional vehicle passes by on the road.
