Madrone Village: Site #2
I booked this location for Memorial Day weekend as it looked like a nice camp site, was close to the lake and had Wi-Fi (which was a must for work emails) johnathan messaged me 30 mins prior to check in that the Wi-Fi hadn’t been installed yet but there was some Wi-Fi at another site up the road at there farm, not the end of the world but would have been good to know at least 2 days prior as I was already on my way and do not check my phone while driving. I arrived and was greeted by the host, she gave me a tour of the campground and brought up the no wifi. Decided to give it a shot since there was wifi at the farm. Got unpacked and drove up to the farm to check my work email and could find the wifi network anywhere near the farm site. I ended having a emergency at work later that afternoon and had to leave. I sent the host a message to let them know I would not be able to return and I have not received a response back. P.S bring mosquitoe repellent as the campsite is covered in them. Still recovering from being there just two hours.

uninviting, host couldn't care less
didn't even show for the stay because host was so uninviting. sent 2 messages and host didn't respond to the second. it was literally as if he was too busy to respond to a text asking about time I can arrive.

Comfert and Camping
Between the enchanting garden, which was clearly loved, and the phenomenal amenities; showers, tables, and restrooms, this property is a perfect balance of comfert and nature.
(If you are over 6 foot, please wear warm socks as your feet might find, and surpass, the edge of the bed. But please, don’t let this detour the lanky fellows)

Lots of potential, but not great
We arrived at dusk and had a hard time finding our camp site. It was very dark and unwelcoming when we arrived. There were tons of mosquitos. The portapotty (very, very stinky portapotty) was locked shut so I had to go to the bathroom outside. Good thing I only had to pee during the 12 ish hours I spent here. 💩
This place has so much potential but lots of small issues to figure out led us to having a pretty mediocre experience at best. They should have some kind of lighting outside, some sign that you’re even in the right place, mark the camp sites more visibly, and obviously, have facilities that I can access.

Jonathan has created such a beautiful and peaceful oasis in the forest. The site is very thoughtfully designed, and the amenities (sink, outdoor shower, dining area) add a touch of comfort. More are in the works so it will only get better. My one note is the porta-potty was past it’s service date but that’s easily fixed. The garden is stunning and is a case study in good permaculture design. Plenty of happy pollinators!
The lake is about it a 15 minute walk or few minutes drive down the road. The southern residential side is much less trafficked and quieter, though you can often hear the campgrounds across. I found a peaceful secluded beach in the shade and spent hours reading, swimming, and disconnecting. Scott’s Flat Reservoir is a gem. Would happily stay again.

Perfect spot to run away to. Close enough to town to visit, far enough away to hear nothing but nature.
