The peace, quiet and beauty of nature is the theme at our property. This land is dedicated to the re-sacralization of culture. The spot was an ancient Native American camping area. People have found arrowheads, stone beads and grinding stones on the land. We offer various types of camping sites, as well as a teepee - so please read each listing for specific amenity and location information. We sell firewood on site. The amount and variety of wildlife is astonishing, with bear, deer, turkeys, fox, coyote, bobcat, Eagles, River otter, salmon and steelhead, with a wide variety of songbirds during migration. Easy access from road, close to town, tall oak trees, privacy, creek with salmon within a five minute walk, mountains, wildlife, barn owl nest box. Please note that during late summer, creek does not flow on surface but always has swimming holes where the salmon and steelhead wait for Fall rains to carry them down to the Eel river and eventually to the ocean, until they return as adults to spawn again. Guests love staying here: "Elderberry camp was really great! It was a large site, plenty of space, shade, and parking. Very peaceful and good distance between other sites although we were pretty much the only campers out there. Outhouse was clean and there was drinking water. We spent most of our Saturday in Eel River which was great. The water was perfect for swimming and fishing, our husbands caught some big ones. Stephen was very nice and accommodating, the honey and eggs we asked for were a nice addition too!" Helpful0 Report

Creekside camp 2
False advertising
The description of the property is greatly exaggerated. The creek that has salmon year round was dry as a bone and looked as if it hadn’t had water in it for years. When I requested the reservation, I told the owner how excited my friend and I were to go fishing. No mention of the creek being dried up in his response. So much for camping creekside. In all honesty my friend and I were not only disappointed when we arrived but were also creeped out by the whole lay of the land, including the caretaker who stared at us as we opened the manual gate. We debated leaving before even setting up our tents. I would never stay here again. We only stayed the 1 night because we were tired from our drive up.

shady oaks
Great spot, nice and quiet, pit toilet was rough but functional. Great spot to stay to play disc golf at Brooktrails.

shady oaks
Absolutely immersed in nature. 🌲🐾
The communication with the host was excellent and the directions were precise and easy. There is no cell reception so you will receive the directions and need to ask questions prior to your trip. Upon pulling in the gate, I noticed a beautiful golden field and manzanitas. As we got closer to the “shady oaks” site there were more trees and lots of privacy. The view west is gorgeous mountains and the sky is open for INCREDIBLE stargazing at night. There is a relatively easy trail leading to the creek (my mother is disabled and got down there twice). The heat has it mostly dry this time of year but there are indeed pools of water if you walk either direction. I got in a crystal clear shaded pool and hundreds of small fish started giving me fish kisses. The second day I ventured a mile or so south and found several Amazing swimming spots. The sound of crickets at night is mesmerizing!! There were many other animals I heard and saw including bobcats, coyotes, deer, chipmunks, squirrels, and a wide variety of songbirds. In the evenings hawks come out and make calls from atop leafless trees. The outhouse was in beautiful shape and didn’t smell at all. BYOTP. There is a drinking water tap near all three upper sites. Pack in & pack out with trash. We had the place to ourselves, but even with all three sites full there is plenty of room. Shady oaks=privacy/shade Elderberry=space/shade Meadow=stars/no shade Wild blackberries for the pancakes too ❤️ Hands down we’ll be coming back!

Elderberry camp
Elderberry camp was spacious and had nice shade through the day, so it didn’t feel as hot. Outhouse was well kept. The site is beside the road, but it’s not very busy and didn’t bother us at all at night. Lots of blackberries around the campsites. Nice walk down to the creek. Every though it barely had any water, the rocks were nice to look at. The turn off to the campsite isn’t actually at the 22400 address sign - it’s the gate a couple meters after it. Don’t make the same mistake as us and accidentally visit the neighbours. We got the firewood add on and got a nice bundle good for one night

Creekside camp 2
Stephen was very easy to connect with before our trip. (You can add fire wood for purchase prior to your trip through him to have at your campsite upon your arrival.) We got to our campsite, Creekside camp 2, around 7:30pm. We had reserved the site for two nights, Friday-Sunday, and once we turned onto the property to get to our camp site, there was someone already in our spot and appeared to be just setting up. A little confusing? After communicating that they were in our campsite they moved to their spot, However, the wood that we had purchased had been moved to a different camp site so not sure how much wood we were actually supposed to get because the person who was at our spot kept saying “did you buy wood?” Because I think that’s yours over there, pointing to his Campsite. Once everything was settled, we were able to set up our campsite. It is very peaceful at night with lots of birds chirping and clear skies where you can look up and see the stars. You definitely should check the weather because it can get pretty cold at night. The only bummer would be that there is actually no water in the creek, so you can’t really take a dip when it’s hot. Overall, this is a great place to come if you want to get away and literally DO nothing but relax.
