Site 2 - Shasta Juniper High Desert
Great little spot with an awesome view of Mount Shasta. Alex met me when I arrived and was kind and friendly. The picnic table was very handy and there was just the right amount of clear space for my tent. Thank you!

Beautiful
Peaceful spot! Amazing view of Mt Shasta. Alex was there to meet us even though we arrived late. He was friendly and welcoming. We only had one night to spend but enjoyed our stay. If you are bringing an RV you should fill up your water reservoir ahead of time or bring water containers. Potable water nearby.

Beautiful views of Mt Shasta
Alex was a great host! Communication was very helpful on the way out, we arrived pretty late for check in and he was kind enough to send a detailed map helping us find the spot in the dark. We camped with our 3 young kids, so I was concerned about weather/air quality due to surrounding fires. He was able to get me that info before our arrival also. After we were all set up, we didn’t hear from him again which was totally fine! The fresh eggs were delicious.
The spot itself does not really have any shade, but it was a lovely place to rest our head at night and catch the sunrise early in the morning! You definitely want a popup for shade if you’re tent camping like we were, or just do what we did and sightsee during the day! We visited the town of Shasta, Siskiyou lake, and even Castle Crags area, all a relatively short drive away. The campsite is a bit dusty, and there were some thorny bits that would catch on my feet at times. But nothing horrible. We saw some little lizards, different kinds of birds, bats, and the crickets and owl lulled us to sleep at night. Stargazing was fun when the smoke cleared from the sky one night. We happened to arrive on a full moon and got to watch it rise up from behind Mt Shasta in the smoky sky. Very beautiful. Sadly we were not able to see any other mountains due to air quality. Would I stay here again? Maybe! It would be interesting to check this spot out at a different time of year. It is very conveniently located just off hwy 97.

It is a great remote place but not to far from the highway. Make sure you don't mind going a little way on a dirt road.
