Jug Handle Creek Farm and Nature Center is a nonprofit with a five minute walk to Jug Handle State Reserve, Jug Handle beach and the Ecological Staircase trail. We offer 11 unique campsites with plenty of space and privacy. Each site has two picnic tables, a fire ring, parking for two cars and plenty of space for your tents. We also offer three lovely cabins, which have power and access to a shared kitchen and bathroom with a hot shower. Our 33 acres include a native plant nursery, community gardens, forests, meadows, and nature trails. Our site has lots of nature trails, is peaceful and beautiful and just a 5-minute walk to Jug Handle Beach and the Jug Handle Preserve. Our Mission: We offer a welcoming and supportive environment for people of all backgrounds to explore nature and connect with the natural word. Nature stewardship is central to our non-profit mission and as an organization we are engaged in many nature restoration projects throughout Mendocino County. We also provide a supportive learning environment for nature education for disadvantaged youth during the school year. If you teach k-12 and would like to bring your classroom to Jug Handle contact us about special rates and our immersive nature education programs.

#10 - Sunny Spot
Amazing spot the sign to the beach was down so we ended up taking the other trail but it eventually connected and it was well worth it !

Needs improvements
There are several issues i have with Jughandle and HipCamp. Campsite was not what was shown in picture. Very disappointed. Another camper said the same of their site. They were right on the dirt road, getting trashed by driver dust. We drove into campgrounds, finding no kiosk, confused to find camp area, very little signage. Signs to highlight water hose bibs would be helpful, as they are not easily seen. No one available to speak with about anything. We're told to use white cans for dog poop bags, but NO WHITE CANS ANYWHERE. We saw full poop bags left in the campground. Mean what you say, say what you mean. Hipcamp reservation site indicated a full campground with 2 sites available. When we arrived, most sites were empty. Their reservation calendar allowed 2 nites only. I proceeded, then tried to add another nite, which worked. Then i got a notice of an extra fee/charge for "changing" my reservation. Is that intentional to make more money? I had tried to reserve 3 nites initially but calendar did not allow. Bumpy road using Hipcamp. Again, no one to speak with. All digital format has problems. Jughandle needs to provide better signage. Have a person on the ground to help customers. Put out white dog poop cans. Remind customers they need to haul out their garbage. Sites need clean up and major improvement. Don't show a site, with car and tent next to a picnic table, when logs block the cars. Provide CURRENT pictures of sites as they are now. Improve signage.

These spaces are well placed and well spaced so it feels private. It was very quiet and clean. The port a potty was spotless clean and not stinky. We could see some new installations and improvements happening, would love to return in the future.

Site was private, drinking water was clean and yummy, very shady, great access to trails, detailed instructions were helpful to get there (we arrived after dark and still had no issues.) Thanks Jughandle!

#8 - Woodland's hangout
Nice location and very chill campground. There was a bit of construction throughout the campground--- I think they're building permanent bathrooms--- so it was less naturalistic than we expected, but we didn't mind at all. Great seeming organization doing wonderful restoration work to manage the forest the campground is in, and site 8 was tucked away in a a dense part of the forest, so felt private and peaceful. Neighbors were quiet and the location can't be beat--- practically just across the road from Jughandle Reserve, where we love hiking. Overall a quiet mellow time, we appreciated our stay!
