Located in the Sierra Nevada Foothills in Gold Country~ 15 min from Grass Valley, Nevada City or Colfax. There is the 'MUST SEE' yuba river nearby neavada city and grass valley, Greenhorn creek that runs into Rollins Lake very close to the property. Also the American River is another nearby beauty worth exploring. There is so much nature and beauty around our area. Frolic (property name) is a wild place with nature running the show. It is quiet and beautiful. Usually cooler because it is right on the water. The dock goes out to the 5 acre pound which is stocked with Bass. You will need to keep food inside of the Cabin/Sauna because we share the space with the animals that live here. The pond is shared with one other neighbor, so you may see other people playing on the pond or hear nearby activity through the trees. It's a great place to hang your hammock and bring a good book or birdwatch. This has been an adventure for me in Saying Yes to life and the rewarding challenges it brings. I fell in love with the huge grama oaks, the pristine pond and the feral overgrown everything. It has been a workin' progress and lots of time to pause and listen. The property is shaped like a pint glass running north to south, with a lovely bowl the pond sits in and an ancient meadow up behind the cabin. Up the hill, a hotter zone, more exposed with it's own beauty, where we live. On the occasion, one of us may come down to the pond for a swim, especially when it's too hot up top. Frolic has been a great teacher in reminding me to PLAY, relax and go with the flow. I hope you can find the same joy and rejuvenation here.Stay in the most precious mini cabin on a huge pond with another smaller pond right above it. It has a redwood dock and deck out in front of the cabin. Bring a hammock to hang in the trees or a pole for fishing. Bring your own bedding but you have access to a comfy, dbl mattress that can be up in the little loft or on the benches down low. There is no power, so bring your headlamps, and solar or battery operated twinkle lights for the best glamping experience. The cabin has a wood~burning stove, that heats the place, like a sauna should. It is used as both a sauna and sweet bunkhouse-summer cabin. It easily sleeps 2 and any extra guests would need to bring all tents and gear. There is a level grassy camping area near the cabin. There is a gorgeous new dock for lounging, swimming and accessing the pond with a ladder! Expect to hear frogs, birdsong and animals. Depending on when you visit there may be blackberries, apples, cherry plums or pears to fill your belly with. You can also swim, lounge or fish on the pond and maybe catch dinner.  This is a rustic retreat, made with many creative hands and lots of love over time. There can also be dangerous aspects of it all and is best for adventurous, fearless, and agile humans. (Use at your own risk) An example is the boat could use new Oars and wooden seats but usually i just put a towel under my bum. There could be slivers on the dock, even with seasonal sanding. There will likely be some spiders or possible ants in and around the cabin. I've never been hurt by them but often sweep them out, if they are bothering me. (I have a handy dandy spider catcher device;) I want to welcome that the animals live here also and we get to visit and play nicely.     There are many colors of dragonflies dancing all over the water, hummingbirds flitting about and cattails growing abundantly around the edge. There is also some water grasses that can tickle you as you swim. The pond gets really deep and cold out in the middle. The top layer of water gets comfortable warm and just dive down a bit to get even cooler in the hot summer days. This water is spring fed and stays colder than the Yuba river, by the end of summer. The cabin has a porch for relaxing, reading and unwinding from the spin of the world. There is a constant sound of falling water, as it tumbles into the pond nearby. You may hear the neighbors who have their house across the pond thru the trees but you wont likely see them.  Your friendly dog(s) welcome and please have them on a leash or voice commanded. If your dog likes to attack and chase things, this isn't the place for you.  Please Note that there are other landmates living on the property that may come to use the pond. We can discuss more if you have specific needs and requests around this, as we are all flexibly humans. Overall this Frolic land is nourishing, playful and peaceful.  All the magic is available to slow your pace and be in awe!

The Nest! Cedar Cabin on Ponds
Excellent site to get some much needed R&R. I would recommend this if you are looking for a homey retreat outside with mother nature. However there will be bugs in and around the cabin as expected since you are outside :) The site is pretty isolated just one neighbor but far enough that you cannot see them through the trees. There is a barky dog but she is super friendly and actually came by to say HI! One thing that would make the place even better is if some of the overgrown areas was tighten up to improve the amazing views! Overall great experience outdoors and I would highly recommend this if you want to relax outdoors

The Nest! Cedar Cabin on Ponds
After a beautiful drive down the mountain road I was promptly greeted by my host Matia. She was exceptionally helpful and super friendly! The property itself was precisely what the doctor ordered, sounds of the adjacent creek, huge pines and a stunning pond with ducks and fish! Some of the true highlights lie in the sauna and the outdoor tub that has cold creek water siphoned into it, a great combo back to back! Overall it’s a great place to write, take nature walks, meditate and have a cold beer in peace. I recommend for a solo trip (I had my dog) or a couples retreat. I enjoyed every minute and aim to return!

The Nest! Cedar Cabin on Ponds
Cozy little cabin in the woods
The site was simple and remote just like we wanted. There are neighbors but they are far enough away and quiet so you dont really notice unless they drive down the main road. We did meet some curious pups that decided to investigate the strangers on our last morning (very nice, they just walked around sniffing everything). The cabin was nice and cozy, we didn't have any issues with bugs on the inside either. The wood burning heater for the sauna building (the cabin is used for this as well) heats very effectively, make sure to crack a window though if you use it. The road to get to the property is partially gravel/dirt so if it is rainy or snowing, be warned. There is a steep gravel hill that would need 4x4 if it was snowing or muddy. My Camry was able to do it no problem in the drier conditions. It’s eerily quiet at night and the stars are nice and bright. It’s also incredibly dark since the nearby houses have minimal external lighting, definitely bring along some headlamps if you plan to walk around. There is a lovely little stream that drains into the pond that provides a nice ambient soundtrack at all times. Matia was super friendly and came down to greet us after we arrived. She provided some extra firewood for the heater and brought down the fire pit for us to use (the area was cold and wet so fire risk was super low ymmv depending on time of year). She described the property and gave us a little tour, answering any questions we had. The restroom consists of nature for #1 and a seat and compost bucket for #2. This property is more for those that want to disconnect with minimal levels of creature comforts. A cozy roof is about the extent. All in all, it was exactly what we wanted and would consider coming back again.

The Nest! Cedar Cabin on Ponds
Calming retreat by the pond
This was the sweetest little cabin on a beautiful pond. We visited in the middle on winter and it seems like this property would be a perfect place to see the changing of the seasons. The cabin was next to a small stream that ran into the larger pond. The sounds of the water trickling by and the birds singing made for an amazingly relaxing escape. We spent most of our time out on the deck relaxing but there were great hiking trails and the closest town was picturesque. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

The Nest! Cedar Cabin on Ponds
Amazing hidden getaway!
CedarSong Cabin is great, overlooking the lake with a little waterfall next to it, so serene. The cabin is small but very comfortable, lots of places to store items. The host was fantastic and really good directions. We will definitely come back.

The Nest! Cedar Cabin on Ponds
Wondrous pondside getaway
We spent 3 nights at this beautiful location. It all comes down to what you’re looking for. We wanted submersion & privacy. The little cabin is perfect for two people & would be too small for three. The deck overlooks the pond. On a nice day you can spend hours reclining with a book or the like & let the energy of the place fill you with peace. The cabin itself is a clever structure with comfort & some convenience but the area surrounding is rustic & overgrown. We brought a Single propane burner which we used right on the deck to cook our meals. Everything was perfect for us. The surrounding area has lots to offer with nearby Seven Trails hike, Rollins lake beach, Nevada City, Colfax. We were lucky to stumble across CedarSong. Each day there was serene & happy.
