Wendy is a Star Host
Star Hosts are highly rated, responsive, and committed to providing incredible experiences.
When you come to camp here you are on a working farm in transition. Girlfarm has been a local food go to for restaurants, farm family members, and regenerative agriculture interests. Today, the farm is looking forward to a new course in agri tourism as we begin planning walking gardens, art installations in the landscape, and interactive classes. If you would like a list of grass fed meats available, veggies, or herbs just text your host before arrival. We are looking for a seasonal self contained camper who we could offer trade for camp care - text host directly. Its been a huge water season so skeeters are around we also recommend tents have a rain fly and ground cloth. Welcome It was important to choose a partner like Hipcamp to invite like minded individuals who respect both the natural environment and the idea of less is more. At any time you may encounter farming activities, building out of tiny houses for future bookings, or gardens in the process of creation. As we move toward offering the land as a place to both find solitude or chosen participation our Flyte and Sparrow experience will hopefully be a place you will want to return to as your own tradition.

Bobcat Camp
We were in Reno for a 3-day dog show and chose Wendy’s site to camp at during our stay. It was a lovely spot with beautiful, expansive views of the surrounding mountains. Stargazing at night was wonderful. In the evening we fell asleep to nighthawk vocalizations and in the morning we awoke to goldfinch and quail chirps. We even got to enjoy watching the various shorebirds and waterfowl at the pond, and observed beautiful red-tailed hawks soaring about. While we did not spend our days at camp since we were out and about, we came to sleep for the evenings and it was the perfect secluded spot for us. Setting up camp wasn’t an issue for us since we have a rooftop tent, but if you have a regular tent, be aware that the ground isn’t particularly flat or free of weeds. In addition, we have a Subaru, so getting to our site wasn’t a problem, but if you have a sedan, be aware that there are some decently tall grasses/shrubs growing in the middle of the path to the campsite. We met Wendy at the beginning of our stay and she was the nicest host! It was so lovely to meet her and chat with her about her future plans for the property. We would love to come back in the future and stay at Bobcat Camp again. There was even a shower/sauna house but we didn’t get to experience it this time. We would highly recommend Wendy’s campsite for a safe, quiet spot to sleep at whenever you’re stopping by the Reno/Sparks area!

I absolutely loved camping here. Wendy is so kind and welcoming, and the farm is lovely. As a solo female traveler, I felt very safe. And her dog is the cutest!

Big Rig Camp
Wendy’s place is gorgeous, and she was very helpful and responsive. Close to Reno yet it feels secluded and was very quiet! I could hear coyotes at night at a distance, but they did not bother us. The place was a little tricky to find and the journey included a washboard road, but well worth the effort for a lovely peaceful weekend! Thank you Wendy for hosting us!

Overnighter/Late Arrival Camp
It was a very pretty location - big open sky. However, I don't think the host realized I had pre-ordered a cot that was supposed to be there waiting in advance according to the upcharge description and when I texted her about it - I got there at 9pm - she said it was too late for her to bring it down. It was only 5$, but I was excited about it. So, maybe message her again to confirm if you ordered extra features - she seems quick to respond to texts. Also, a little heads up: the three mile dirt road drive to the farm is very bumpy and was pretty slow going for me and jostle-y for my sedan.

Flyte and Sparrow? Fluke and Sorrow
Better signage identifying campsites, bathrooms and water. Warning about the bad two-mile road to the farm. I was planning a one-night in transit stay. I drove to the farm at dusk, couldn’t find anything and left. I would not recommend this place to anyone else.
