As you know Hipcamp lets you book and enjoy your travel plans seamlessly, So....We make every effort to be open year round, even in a blizzard. Please make sure you are equipped completely for your perfect stay over. This is a Mountain Location please check local weather conditions before you arrive. This is located 25 minutes from Truckee. Emigrant Gap has some hidden GEMS. The State park at the end of the road hosts the North Fork of the North Fork of the American River and its water Fall. Bowman Lake and Yuba Gap reservoir are one exit away. This small camping area backs up to 100,000 acres of Tahoe National forest. You can walk to a restaurant with regular bathrooms and wifi. Here we have out door compost toilet and cold out door shower. ATM we are nothing special. Lots of cool things to do minutes from here, but we mainly boast a safe place to park on your journey. Historic and epic rock climbing is minutes from your campsite. Also there are 4 ski destinations less then 20 minutes from us. fishing lakes can be hiked to. Quads, snow mobiles, xcountry skiing, hiking, downhill and horse back riding can all happen without getting back on the freeway. September 1, 2023. In and effort to make stayovers more comfortable, Site 4 and 5 are being removed and site 6 is being modified to host a full time 34Ft RV available for nightly use.

Site 1 Right side Picnic table
Easy instructions to get to the place. The campground was very calm. The host was super nice, he gave us some wood for the fire. Overall, a very great experience.

Pets welcomed, water and power
The accommodations for the price are a real value. The set up is as presented on the web site and the owner, Big Yeti, is available if need be, but respectable to your privacy- it is great find and I recommend this spot for anyone that is passing through on 80 and needs an affordable, safe and accommodating camp site, or RV camp site- Best, Tommy

Depends on what you are looking for
Look it's not for tent campers. It's a great place for quick late night pull in and morning pull out. There restaurants and some local businesses in close proximity. Ye views are not as advised.

Tent camping in May
Easy on and off the freeway. I tent camped in site 3 and it was nice and level and had some nice solar lights next to it that provided enough light to walk around my tent. I didn’t use the toilet or water spigot. Host saw me pull up and came out to greet me. I was the only one in the campground. I brought ear plugs because I knew it was next to I-80. They came in handy! The price is fair for what you get.

Easy overnight
Great spot for an easy rest on your way up 80. Clean & safe with a gorgeous meadow to wake up to.

Great stay, friendly host
This place was great. The host Jay was super friendly and helpful and went above and beyond to make sure I had a comfortable stay during a snowstorm. Good location close to Lake Tahoe and skiing.
