Rauhala Heritage Farm is a privately owned farm on the outskirts of the town of Sointula, on Malcolm Island, B.C.
Rauhala is surrounded by a 100 acre forest with our own private bay with fields, a creek and a beach campsite area there you can look out at the mountains of Northern Vancouver Island, where you may get to see some whales.
Bring your own water. Pack-in/Pack-out garbage.
You get to set up camp on our beach campsite, which overlooks the ocean and mountains.
There are many hiking trails on our property where you can view some giant old growth trees.
Rauhala is a heritage site and I do offer eco-heritage tours of the property. Rauhala means Place of Peace in the Finnish language and dates back to the early Finnish settlement of Sointula. You can pitch your tent at our beach campsite or anywhere in the fields on our property. We provide fire pits for campfires, and firewood is available on the beach, but fires are not allowed if there is a fire ban in place.
We have three outhouses on site, but please bring your own water.
You'll have your own private campsite and bay, with full access to the beach and hiking trails through the forests. Rauhala is only a short drive from the town-site of Sointula, and it's a historic site. We also offer eco-heritage tours of the property to learn about our history, but please leave any artifacts where you find them.

Having a little piece of heaven all to yourself in complete solitude is priceless. I cannot say enough amazing things about this piece of property. After staying on a few places on the northern island, I would have to say this place far Surpasses anywhere else I have stayed over the years. The weather was spectacular for fall and I was so blessed to watch a large pod of orcas go right past me on the beach. I also met a very friendly cow that lives on the farm and roams free. She walked right up to me for a rub on her nose. I would absolutely highly recommend everyone book some time at this property; Especially if you are looking for some time to be alone in nature. Thank you Roger for being such a gracious host.

I'll be back.
Tent
Very Private very exclusive. Absolutely gorgeous view and plenty of space to camp as you please. The host gave me a tour of the property which is huge and then left me to set up where I saw fit. I chose to set my tent up on the beach site and enjoyed a wonderful evening cooking over a fire while enjoying the stuffing views. There are indeed whales as I could see and them blowing their spouts. My only regret was that I only booked one night so I didn't have much time to explore the property and the rest of the island.

Excellent Camping Experience
18 ft pop-up camper
This is a really cool property with beautiful views and interesting history - exactly the kind of experience we had hoped for when choosing Hipcamp over commercial campgrounds. Roger met us to give us a rundown, then we were left to enjoy the farm property, as simple as that. Whales breaching off in the distance only added to the experience.

Finally out
Tent
It was spectacular. I was the only camper with a gorgeous view . I could hear the waves and birds and whales all night. It was the best camping i had so far. I was free to wander tru the property. There is no water or electricity so you need to plan accordingly. The host was welcoming and helpful. Strongly recommend for someone looking for a camping experience out of the rv resort and public campsite
