River Bends is a private site in the bend of a river flowing through a deep limestone ravine and old Totara and Matai forest, the site is situated in open space allowing access to stunning views of the surrounding rock formations river features and bushland. Composting toilet and clean water on tap are provided at the site.

Loved staying at this campsite. It was fairly easy to find the site, but once we got there there were two different fields- could maybe do with some signposts to make sure you know where to go. However it’s extremely beautiful, secluded and peaceful next to the stream. The toilet is nice, clean and not what you expect in the middle of a field. There is a fire pit with wood you can use and it’s in the most stunning spot. Would love to stay again :)

A hidden gem
I can’t say enough about how beautiful this spot is! Very private space by a little stream surrounded by rolling hills, we almost felt like we were in the Shire. The toilet and sink on site was also super helpful and the firewood provided was a great bonus. Unfortunately for us, it rained a massive amount which forced us to pack up very early on in our stay but our awesome host Tim refunded us the nights we weren’t able to be there for, unprompted. Staying here was super affordable and we will 100% be coming back again! (Maybe even make it a yearly family trip 😊)
