One of Arkansas' greatest treasures. Less than a minute from the Kings River Falls Trail-head, and nestled alongside the headwaters of the Kings River in Venus Arkansas. This is a remote and rugged campground with caves, bluffs, swimming holes and river a plenty. This campground has a grand exhibition of the same sandstone formation that is responsible for the Whitaker Point (Hawksbill Crag) formation. Clovis like points have been found here, and so one might assume the bluffs and crags here have been inhabited for millennia. This 7 acre property is completely surrounded by Arkansas Natural Heritage-Natural Area. There are miles of trails and cooling waters at every turn. If you like Kings River Falls, get ready to fall in love with this Red Fern Campground. So pack your curiosity, lace up your hiking boots, and let the whispering leaves guide you. Kings River Falls awaits, ready to share its secrets with those who listen. Where time slows down and the modern world fades away. Every turn reveals a new wonder; a hidden waterfall an unnoticed cave or bluff or a moss-covered boulder. It’s not just a place; it’s an experience an invitation to step beyond the ordinary and into a world where magic still thrives and fairy tales come alive. Here, the forest whispers secrets, and the river sings a timeless song. Most of our campsites are just yards away from a public swimming area, which is shared between our property and the Arkansas Natural Area. You should expect local traffic at the main swimming area during your stay. We have a private swimming area on our property which is just a short hike from the developed campsites (Please ask the camphost for directions). There are miles of county maintained bumpy dirt roads leading to the site. Expect your vehicle to get dusty. There is a creek crossing that is required to reach the campsites. We recommend high clearance and/or 4WD or AWD vehicles. If you are unable to cross the creek, you will need to park in the parking area and walk across the creek to reach your site.

Site 4 - Kings River Falls Camping
Nice Secluded Area
I think the site would have been a little easier to find if each site had a reflective sign identifying the number it was. We arrived after dark so it was a little confusing to make sure we were at the right spot. Other than that the site was fairly clean when we arrived and we did not have any issues during our stay. There was a couple nice trails we hiked and got to see a few small snakes and other various wildlife. Caught a couple small fish in the swimming holes there. Overall it was a delightful campsite to stay at and I wish we would have been able to stay a couple more days to explore more the area has to over. Will definitely put it on the list of campsites to revisit.

Thanks!
Site one was wonderfully spacious and would have accommodated a much larger group than just me and my hubby. We were the only campers which made it feel super secluded, the swimming hole was deep and clear. We were visited by Thornberry and hopefully you also get a chance to meet her. 😊 Overall, it was an amazing trip.

Beautiful place to camp, hike, swim, relax and unwind. We stayed a week but could have stayed forever.

It is a beautiful drive to the campsite, be sure to stock up on water and firewood before you get there, as you'll probably want to stay on the grounds once you arrive. The creek was clear and nice. The sites themselves could use markers or numbers as the neighbors who arrived before us were confused which was which.

Beautiful, but could use some love
Beautiful secluded spot. There was a family of snakes in the swimming hole which freaked people out and a local thought it was a Cottonmouth. Turns out they were not Cottonmouth but rather harmless water snakes. My son (4) had a blast catching crickets and feeding them to the fish. A local family taught us how to make "Indi-waw-pain" (as their adorable 3-year-old daughter called it) by smashing rocks and adding water. So much to see. We were visited by Opossums at night. The campsite at the top of the hill is under a rock formation, first time I've seen a developed campsite like that, very cool (though we didn't actually camp there). Lots of positives about this property. The negatives are that the sites could use some love. There was a lot of trash, and the picnic tables were falling apart. There were exposed rusted screws. If I come back I'll be sure to bring a saw to remove any parts of the table that look particularly hazardous. And a trash grabber 😂 Regarding the river crossing: It was dry when we were there. We camped in a '95 4WD Eurovan camper. In order to drive out, I had to engage both front and rear differential lockers. A high-clearance vehicle with RWD could probably make it but it would make me nervous, especially if it was a heavy camper van.
