Property isn't kept up
When we arrived at the property it was largely overgrow. We left shortly after arriving to stay elsewhere since the premises didn't appear to be safely usable or well taken care of.

Very pretty
The camp ground is beautiful fields all surrounded by mountains. Close to many hiking trails and has Wi-Fi accessibility. Would recommend this primitive camp ground.

New Hipcamper has things to fix
Hi Campers!
Been Hipcamping for 3 years now and never had anything but a great experience until this trip. Ericka is a newer host and I believe has some things to get resolved and she was kind and responsive so I give her the benefit of the doubt that she will be able to. Trying to keep this short as possible so here are pro/cons:
Pros - beautiful valley, close to Ozark forest OHV and hiking trails, beautiful river, The Combs store is a gem (get the fried pies!), Ericka is a super nice lady!
Cons-
1) Neighbor directly behind us yelled at us to get our dogs on a chain. Listing is leash off and we pick places like this because we just want to be left alone. Our dogs were at the edge of his property and we were outside and keeping them managed. In my opinion it was uncalled for. He then walked over directly into our camp, told me that "since it was hunting season dogs not on leashes get shot round here" and played like he was just trying to help us. It was a passive aggressive threat and this guy was just a jerk. I told him thank you and let him walk away but dealing with that stuff put a pretty big damper on Thanksgiving. Also the neighbor two doors down had a giant white dog that roamed free all weekend and came to see us a couple times, which is was fine, but it didn't look like he was in danger of getting shot. My suggestion here is that Ericka figure out a way to insist this neighbor never approach her hipcampers, and instead contact her and she handle it if needed. Also may need to build a fence to block him off or something.
2) This listing did not state that you will have zero cell service at this location. In the past locations that have zero cell service note it in the listing as it can make it difficult to communicate and a camper would want to know. (sometimes that is a good thing but we want to know so update the listing with that info!)
3) There is a large power pole with a light on it at the entrance corner of the property, there is a gravel drive and parking lot near here. If you camp near this nightime will feel like daytime, however if it rains heavily (it did with us), then the ground is too soft to get to the other portions of the field without getting stuck so you almost have to camp under the light. Suggestion might be to extend the gravel road or get rid of the light or have it turn off at 10pm or something.
4) This is on the floor of a valley so if you are tent camping assume it will be 10 degrees cooler at night than you think as the cold really does settle in valleys. Not a big deal just be prepared.
5) There is a large field that you drive around and camp on. The instructions say anywhere southeast of the pole is fine to camp. I believe that is a mistake as it is anywhere north east of the pole. There is an imaginary line that goes down the middle of this huge unmarked in any way field and my second encounter with the same neighbor was when I was taking a walk around the field and he came out to let me know I needed to get off his property, which even after 4 days there I am not sure where that is.
6) The river is a huge draw but the only access we found that doesn't require slogging through uncut brush/trees is actually over a little in the field and it turns out that is the neighbor's part of the field so you risk an altercation there. Suggestion is to clear/mow a path or two down to the river as this is a huge draw and also put a fence or some type of marker dividing line so people know to stay off the neighbor's part of the field.
7) There is what sounds like a pack of dogs penned up that bark I am not kidding near 24 hours per day. This is a bit back up on the far side of the valley but was like nails on a chalkboard. We were in RV so could hide from it there but if we were tent camping there would have been no escape. Not sure there is anything Ericka could do about that and it is possible this is not a normal occurrence as perhaps the owners were traveling for Thanksgiving and dogs were barking more than usual. If other reviews mention this ongoing then it would be a deal killer for me. Those dogs sounded miserable.
I hope that this review is helpful and Ericka can get these items resolved as I love Hipcamping and want every Hipcamp host to be successful. Also I want to note that they are working on a station that allows electricity hookup and were nice enough to let us try it out really before they were fully ready but it was helpful for us. On the way home my fiance and her texted back and forth some (once we had signal) and she offered to waive any fee for that since the neighbor thing had happened. I am still happy to pay for the electricity used but I wanted to share the story as I think it shows Ericka is a nice lady and trying to do her best and I am hopeful she can get the kinks worked out!

It was more closer to other properties and the main city (which is small), but it was closer. Depending on in the field where you sleep, you could be near other houses and hear cars.
However, the view was spectacular and the land was very well maintained!

We were traveling coast to coast and wanted to see some parts of the Ozarks. The stars were insane! Pulled up our camper van in this nice little hideaway by the river. The host was very welcoming and responsive! They provided some logs for a fire free of charge. Also a nice cafe with wifi right around the corner. Definitely recommend staying here!
