El Pais is a family owned and operated motel and campground located in southern Tucson. We embrace the mid-century era with an awesome design, stimulating artwork, and fun amenities. If you're looking for a place to have an amazing experience by pitching a tent, living your best van life, or enjoying a full hookup RV experience you won't be disappointed. So come and book with us here at the world famous El Pais Motel & Campgrounds.
El Pais offers a unique and friendly atmosphere that many campers find delightful. The mid-century modern decor and communal spaces like the clubhouse and outdoor kitchen add to the charm, making it a fun place to relax and socialize. The hosts, Toni and Karl, are frequently praised for their warmth and helpfulness. While the proximity to the highway can mean some noise, the overall experience is one of comfort and community.
We stayed for several days. Karl greeted us when we arrived & walked us to our spot. Then we settled in & headed to the open air coffee/patio area while a movie was playing over the pool. The bathrooms/showers were spotless. Coffee was hot & available from the pot every morning. We were in our truck camper & rather than pack up to do things, we'd just get an Uber to our destinations.
The campsite is gravel with supplied grass pad. The other campers were respectful, quiet & fun to interact with. It was nice to be able to get out & walk to the pool & soak our feet. It's not heated so it was too cold in Feb.
It can be loud during the day with the military planes flying & training overhead. At night there's a hum of the highway but it's just white noise to me. I would imagine in the summer it could be quite hot cause the only shade is by the poolside.
I'd stay here again.
Very cool retro campground with tons of awesome antiques! The owners put a lot of work into making it cute and making guests comfortable and you can tell they love their little property! Very worth the money considering all the extras you get for free (firewood, filtered water, coffee, bathroom access, pool and movie screen, disco ball on the patio and so much more!) Had to leave a night early due to an emergency and was very sad to go so soon! Will be staying again on the next Arizona vacation 😄
Chill place to stay. I liked the vibe here and felt very comfortable. There are tons of places to hang out filled with vintage furniture and interesting vintage finds. I appreciated the hot coffee every morning and the fresh eggs in the fridge. The only downside - there are only two bathrooms, which seems like it’d be sufficient but it was not infrequent that there’d be a wait to use them since they are normal home bathrooms with toilets and showers, and you might have to wait on someone to finish a shower when you have to go. A separate toilet or portapotty would help.
