This was a foreclosed property which is being brought back to its glory. We border the Tohono O’odham land with many, many desert hikes and sightseeing trips to take. A truly educational and soul fulfilling experience awaits. Learn more about this land: Sonoran Skies Campground is a quiet, natural desert like campground. We have 6 full hook ups, 5 partial hook ups with water/septic and plenty of space for boondockers to pitch their tent. We are surrounded by desert for hiking and are only 17 miles from the Organ Pipe National Monument. (28 from Sonoita/Mexico). There is a ton of wildlife here and coyotes/wild burros/quail/roadrunners and more can be seen daily. Our campground has about 50 egg laying chickens, 2 roosters and a Turkey named Boudicca (Celtic Warrior Queen). They all love to be held and cuddled. Come experience our vast dark starry skies and our Scottish hospitality. You won’t regret it.

Good place to reset under the stars

What a lovely little campground. Joyce was so kind and accommodating. I was met with a big binder of things to do and places to eat which was super helpful. The campsite is quiet and the stars were amazing. I can’t wait to go back with my kiddo.

Perfect Host

Joyce might be the nicest person I’ve ever met. She’s welcoming and attentive without being overbearing. We loved sitting by the campfire and talking to the other guests. Joyce provided an experience that more than met our expectations and was a great value. I’d definitely stay there again when I’m in the area.

We enjoyed our stay at Joyce’s place. She’s a lovely host, she even brought us tea and snacks when we arrived! We were delighted to see a Great Horned owl, hummingbirds and woodpeckers at our spot. If we were staying in the area we would definitely consider the place for longer term stays, it’s great value compared to other rv sites in the area.

Amazing host!

Joyce is an absolute delight and welcoming host. My dog loved her. The site was well maintained and the dog run was a big bonus. The sky is incredible. A lovely way to experience this area.

Ajo is Awesome!

We enjoyed our stay. Ajo and Why are beautiful and we were able to enjoy the meteor shower. Joyce was very sweet and even had a well stocked bathroom with all the necessaries(which came in really handy because we forgot toothpaste. ) Sadly we had to cut our visit short because my job decided they needed me Monday (after granting me the time off). There is a really cool cactus park and rock shop that we got to briefly visit. We look forward to visiting again when we have more time. Joyce even offered us coffee for the drive home.

Sonoran Skies

Convenient, Comfortable, Quiet

Joyce was responsive via Hipcamp and text. I found directions a bit confusing but was able to get clarification from her and the place was easy to find. Bathroom was clean and had extra amenities if you forgot anything. We were able to dump our grey water which was a plus. Overall a convenient place to stay at and whenever I’m back I plan to stay here again.
