The Light Center is a 95 acre natural sanctuary nestled in a wooded creek valley amidst the farm land of Kansas. • We have a refinished community barn with two private rooms and a community kitchen, a 30ft Pacific Yurt and lots of great places to camp. • If you're just driving through or want an 'easy' camping experience with wifi, pitch your tent in the spacious yard around the barn. • We have lots of places to hike to and several wonderful remote camping spots. Choose from hiking out to camp near the large creek that winds through our land, gathering with friends in a meadow or tucking into a spot in the woods with a beautiful view of the Kansas plains. • Out here, on a clear night, you can see all of the stars. We are an organic, sustainable farm providing natural sacred spaces for hiking and camping. We welcome peaceful camping for people with reverence for the land and all beings. We have goats, free-range chickens, guinea hens, dogs and cats. For the safety of our livestock and other guests, we do require visitors to keep their dogs on a leash at all times. The Light Center is a retreat center serving as a beacon, lighting the way into a vibrant future. We are creating new paths with open hearts. We offer events, celebrations and ceremonies about harmonizing with the earth and inspiring personal, local and global connections. We provide a safe space to nurture and inspire spiritual growth and empower youth.

The Redtail Yurt

Would recommend

Susan was great and incredibly accommodating. The "bathroom" in the yurt is a bucket with a toilet seat type lid on it hidden behind a folding partition. It was great in a pinch when we didn't want to walk down to the barn. The walk to the barn was not far but it is down a little hill and then back up. If it was wet or raining I could see getting there being problematic but we were totally fine, even with some light rain in the morning. Car is parked near the barn and you have to haul everything to the yurt. Make sure you pack light or have some strong bodies. Yurt was well maintained and not bare bones. She had water in there, trash bags, bug spray, extra bedding and a cooler (but you provide the ice). The yurt has some solar lights on it that help at night and add ambiance. Would totally recommend!

Super helpful and fun adventure.

Susan and her community were very welcoming and helpful. There are plenty of hiking trails todo. Overall, a nice getaway.

Beside the Barn 4, park & camp

Susan’s land was wonderful, a small piece of wooded land in the middle of a bunch of farm land. There is a river and lots of mowed paths in grassy fields to hike around on. We chose a tent site next to the barn and it was so great to be able to go into the barn and use the full kitchen and bathroom! We stopped here on our way from Denver to Nashville and it was almost the perfect halfway point.

Set up an eno for the evening and it was wonderful! The provided bug spray was a godsend, and the amenities were all perfect! Wonderful people and some great conversation to boot, would definitely stay again.
