Waipi'o Lodge and Campsite is located in Kukuihaele less than a mile from majestic Waipiʻo Valley. In a place where horses and wild turkeys often wander by, this is the old Hawaiʻi. A place where neighbors stop to talk and life is sweet as the smell of sugar cane grass. You'll enjoy a wonderful ocean view and the many fruit and macadamia nut trees on the property. We usually have perfect weather- sunshine, blue skies, a nice breeze, with temperatures in the high 70's. The campsite is part of the Waipi'o Lodge, which has three bedrooms and a common space living room. Our camping guests are welcome to use the outside kitchen, covered lanai, and Lodge bathroom. We also have high speed Wi-Fi. Our guests tend to be excellent company, usually visiting from Europe, the US Mainland, Australia and beyond. Many use our place as a launching point for hiking in Waipi'o Valley or backpacking trips into Waimanu Valley. Join us!!The Waipiʻo Lodge platform tent is "glamping" at its finest! Wake up to an ocean view sunrise with the island of Maui in the distance. Feel the tradewind breeze that brings some of the freshest air on the planet. Less than a mile from the Waipiʻo Valley Lookout, youʻve found the right place. With a comfortable queen size bed, ceiling fan and mini fridge, youʻll have everything you need. The platform tent is completely modern, with good wifi and plenty of plugs to charge your electronics. This is part of the Waipiʻo Lodge, which has three other bedrooms and shared spaces among other travelers. Youʻll have access to an outdoor bathroom and showers shared with other lodge guests. Youʻre also welcome to use a community kitchen with all the supplies youʻll need. To stay here, you should be happy to interact with other guests. The Waipi'o Lodge is located in the quaint village of Kukuihaele, less than a mile from majestic Waipiʻo Valley. In a place where horses and wild turkeys often wander by, this is the old Hawaiʻi. We enjoy the best weather on the island- not hot like Kona, not rainy like Hilo, not cold like Waimea… just perfect!! It’s also a central location for exploring the Hilo and Kona sides of the island. Just 10 minutes away is the lovely town of Honokaʻa, with farmers markets, antique shops, restaurants, and the coolest old movie theater in the world.

Waipiʻo Lodge- Platform Tent

Thank you so much! Everything was delightful. We loved th outdoor kitchen and learned how to shell our own mac nuts from the property. The platform tent was a perfect landing spot for our first couple nights and we wish we had booked it longer! And of course, its pretty hard to come close to that view. We will be back!

This was an incredible experience, and I am very thankful that we had the opportunity to stay here during our trip. Normally, this location is booked months in advance, but we lucked out as a result of someone else's cancellation. Mahalo nui loa e Greg and Ohana for an incredible stay. What an experience!

Waipiʻo Lodge- Platform Tent

Our stay in the platform tent was unique and it was spacious and comfortable. However, if it is windy the tent is quite loud so it is more suitable for those who camp and/or are more adventurous. The common areas were comfortable and clean. The other guests were likeminded and it was a relaxing environment. The bathroom and shower were clean and set up well. It was a nice bonus to have some fresh fruit from the trees on the property. We would rebook if back in the area again. Thanks Greg!

Beautiful view and tasty fruit!

Loved picking the fruit from the trees. We had a great orange! The tent was roomy and comfortable, with a great view. Highly recommend.
